Michigan Mega Conference
The Michigan Mega Conference was a large high school athletic league comprising twenty-eight schools which disbanded in mid-2009, with its former members either becoming independent or forming their own leagues. Member schools were predominantly located in suburban Wayne County, Michigan, mainly in Downriver. The other schools were located in neighboring Monroe and Washtenaw Counties. The schools were also members of the Michigan High School Athletic Association and compete in the organization's post-season state championships. Depending on the sport, the schools were divided into three or four divisions. Controversies When the MEGA conference was formed in 1993, many schools were denied entry into the conference. The repudiated schools alleged that this was because of their large black student population, the founding schools "discriminated in the formation and operation of the league." The Michigan High School Athletic Association Southeastern Conference (MHSAA SEC) is a high school sports conference composed of schools (all public) in three different counties in the state of Michigan. Downriver League
The Downriver League is an athletic conference for high schools in Michigan. It was formed in 2009 after the dissolution of the Michigan Mega Conference by schools in the "Downriver" area of Metro Detroit. In 2018, Edsel Ford High School, Dearborn Edsel Ford was brought into the league to the fill the opening left by John F. Kennedy High School (Taylor, Michigan), Taylor Kennedy after it closed and consolidated with Harry S. Truman High School (Taylor, Michigan), Taylor Truman to make Taylor High. In 2019, Melvindale left to join the Western Wayne Athletic Conference. Western Wayne Athletic Conference
The Western Wayne Athletic Conference (WWAC), is a high school sports conference located in Wayne County, Michigan. It was formed in 2009. Formation and Expansion The WWAC was formed by 11 of the teams of the former Michigan Mega Conference after it disbanded in 2009. The league began play that same year. The league expanded in 2013 with the additions of Clarenceville, and until summer 2013, Inkster. Many rivalries from the Mega were carried over to the WWAC, including the rivalries from Dearborn and Dearborn Heights. Annual crossover games had also maintained the football rivalry between Garden City and Edsel Ford, until 2015, when division realignment forced the teams to put the game on hiatus. In 2018, Belleville, Dearborn and Fordson all left the WWAC to join the Kensington Lakes Activities Association, while Edsel Ford left the same year in favor of joining the Downriver League. Romulus High School
Romulus Senior High School or Romulus High School is the public high school in the city of Romulus, Michigan in Metro Detroit. History In 2013 Inkster High School closed due to the closure of the Inkster School District. Students in the Inkster zone south of Michigan Avenue and west of Middlebelt were rezoned to Romulus High School. This area includes portions of Inkster and Westland. Theodore Roosevelt High School (Wyandotte)
Theodore Roosevelt High School, also known as RHS or Roosevelt, or also Wyandotte High by alumni, is the secondary school serving Wyandotte, Michigan, located on Eureka Road several blocks west of Biddle Avenue. The corner stone of Roosevelt High School was laid in the Fall of 1921. Roosevelt did not open its doors to students until April 1923. RHS is the only public high school in the city of Wyandotte.
