Michigan Air Line Trail
The Michigan Air Line Trail was a working title for a non-motorized pathway running across the southern portion of Michigan's Lower Peninsula from Port Huron (Lake Huron) to South Haven (Lake Michigan). The trail is now known as the Great Lake to Lake Trail, Route #1. This trail is made up of roughly of existing trails with of temporary routing. It is part of a system of cross-state trails proposed by the Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance back in 2007. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Department of Transportation, Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance and approximately 30 local jurisdictions have made the Great Lake to Lake Trail, Route #1 a reality. The inaugural ride to celebrate the contiguous connection of the route was held in September 2019. Macomb Orchard Trail
The Macomb Orchard Trail is a 23.5 mile long rail trail in Macomb County, Michigan, United States. It is built on the right-of-way of an early Michigan railroad, the Michigan Air Line Railway, later owned and operated by Canadian National Railway. Lakelands Trail State Park
Lakelands Trail State Park, officially the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail State Park since January 20, 2017, is a state park in Michigan that runs east–west from southwest of Munith to Hamburg Township, Michigan. It is a multi-use trail converted from abandoned railroad corridors. According to the Michigan DNR web site, the north side of the trail is for hiking and biking, and the south side is for horseback riding. Kal-Haven Trail
The Kal-Haven Trail, formally known as the Kal-Haven Trail Sesquicentennial State Park, is a rail trail in the USA that originally ran between South Haven, Michigan, to a point just west of the city of Kalamazoo, Michigan, where there is a trailhead. In 2008, the trail was extended east from the trailhead to downtown Kalamazoo as part of the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail. Description The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Pure Michigan designated the Kal-Haven trail as one of the "Pure Michigan" trails because it "provide access to high quality scenic views. The Kal-Haven trail is a former railroad bed that has been converted to trail using Limestone/slag surface.
