Julie Brixie is a Democratic member of the Michigan House of Representatives. Biography Julie Brixie was born in Chicago, IL to two teachers. She received a B.S. in Physical Geography from the University of Illinois. During college, she met her husband, and the two moved to East Lansing, Michigan. There, she received her Master’s in crop and soil sciences with a specialization in environmental toxicology from Michigan State University. She then ran a mobile laboratory, conducting investigations and cleanups of contaminated sites in Michigan, and raised her children with her husband in mid-Michigan. David Hollister
David Hollister (born April 3, 1942) served as the mayor of Lansing, Michigan from 1993 to 2003, until he resigned to be the director of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth under Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm's administration. Mayor During his tenure as mayor, he was instrumental in convincing General Motors Corporation to build the Grand River Assembly Plant downtown, and to build a new plant in the region to replace the Lansing Car Assembly Plant which dated back to 1903. 2016 Michigan House Of Representatives Election
An election was held on November 8, 2016 to elect all 110 members to Michigan's House of Representatives. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. President, U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. The primary election was held on August 2, 2016. There was no change in the composition of the House as Republicans retained control, winning 63 seats compared to 47 seats for the Democrats. Members elected at the 2016 election served in the 99th Michigan Legislature which convened on January 11, 2017. An election was held on November 6, 2018 to elect all 110 members to Michigan's House of Representatives. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor and Senate. The primary election was held on August 7, 2018. Republicans retained control of the House, despite losing the popular vote, after a net loss of five seats, winning 58 seats compared to 52 seats for the Democrats. Term-limited members Under the Michigan Constitution, members of the state Senate are able to serve only two four-year terms, and members of the House of Representatives are limited to three two-year terms, some of the toughest term-limit laws in the country. Okemos ( ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Ingham County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population of the CDP was 21,369 at the 2010 census. Okemos is located mostly within Meridian Charter Township, with a small portion extending south into Alaiedon Township and east into Williamstown Township. The Michigan Senate is the upper house of the Michigan Legislature. Along with the Michigan House of Representatives, it composes the state legislature, which has powers, roles and duties defined by Article IV of the Michigan Constitution, adopted in 1963. Gretchen Whitmer
Gretchen Esther Whitmer (born August 23, 1971) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 49th governor of Michigan since 2019.
