Michigan's 14th Senate District
Michigan's 14th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. It has been represented by Democratic Sue Shink since 2023, succeeding Republican Ruth Johnson. Geography District 14 encompasses all of Jackson County, as well as part of Washtenaw County. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 14, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, was split between southern Genesee County outside of Flint and northwestern Oakland County in the exurbs of Detroit. Communities in the district included Waterford Township, Highland Township, Springfield Township, Brandon Township, Holly Township (including the village of Holly), Fenton, Mundy Township, the city and township of Davison, and the city and township of Grand Blanc. Sue Shink
Sue Shink is an American politician who currently represents Michigan's 14th Senate district in the Michigan Senate. She was elected in the 2022 Michigan Senate election. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Political career Shink started her political career as a trustee of Northfield Township. She was then elected as a Democrat to the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners in 2018, and re-elected in 2020. Michigan's 11th Congressional District
Michigan's 11th congressional district is a United States congressional district northwest of Detroit, comprising portions of northwestern Wayne and southwestern Oakland counties. Until 1993, the district covered the state's Upper Peninsula and the northernmost portion of the Lower Peninsula (a.k.a. Northern Michigan). In redistricting that year, it was shifted to the outer Detroit area. Its former geographical area is now the state's first district. Its current configuration dates from 2003. Population growth in the Detroit suburbs resulted in redistricting to create a new district in that region, even as Michigan lost a district overall after the census. Michigan's 8th Congressional District
Michigan's 8th congressional district is a United States congressional district in Southern Michigan and Southeast Michigan, including almost all of the state capital, Lansing. From 2003 to 2013, it consisted of all of Clinton, Ingham, and Livingston counties, and included the southern portion of Shiawassee and the northern portion of Oakland counties. After the redistricting that resulted from the 2010 Census, the district was shifted south to no longer cover Clinton or Shiawassee counties and instead covers more of Oakland County, including Rochester. The district was first created in 1873, after redistricting following the 1870 census. Michigan's 5th congressional district is a United States congressional district in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. The district is represented by Republican Tim Walberg. Predecessors From 1873 to 1993, the 5th was based in the Grand Rapids area of Western Michigan. Its most notable member was Gerald Ford, who in 1974 became the 38th President of the United States upon the resignation of Richard Nixon, at the height of the Watergate Scandal. Grand Blanc Township, Michigan
Charter Township of Grand Blanc is a charter township of Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 39,846 at the 2020 census, a slight increase from 37,508 at the 2010 census. Grand Blanc, Michigan
Grand Blanc is a city in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan and a suburb of Flint. The population was 7,784 as of the 2020 US Census. History The unincorporated village of Grand Blanc, or Grumlaw, was a former Indian campground first settled by Jacob Stevens in spring 1822. Several years later, settlers improved the Indian trail to Saginaw; they laid out and staked it in 1829 as Saginaw Road. Grand Blanc Township was formed in 1833 with area that would become the city. The township center began to boom in 1864 with the arrival of the railroad (now known as the CSX Saginaw Subdivision). Township of Davison is a civil township of Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan consisting of the survey township of North 7 East 8 less the administratively autonomous city of Davison. Davison is a city in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan and a suburb of Flint. The population was 5,536 at the 2000 census and fell to 5,173 by the 2010 census.
