Fort Ord, California
Fort Ord is a former United States Army post on Monterey Bay of the Pacific Ocean coast in California, which closed in 1994 due to Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) action. Most of the fort's land now makes up the Fort Ord National Monument, managed by the United States Bureau of Land Management as part of the National Conservation Lands, while a small portion remains an active military installation under Army control designated as the Ord Military Community. Before construction and official designation as a fort in 1940, the land was used as a maneuver area and field-artillery target range during 1917. Peter Johansson (born 2 April 1967 in Näsby, Örebro) is a Swedish retired competitive figure skater. He is a four-time Swedish national champion. He currently works as a coach in Boston, Massachusetts with Mark Mitchell. Konstantin Kostin
Konstantin V. Kostin (russian: Константин Костин, , born 4 September 1973) is a Latvian figure skater. He competed for the Soviet Union through 1991 and then for Latvia from 1992 to the end of his career in 2001. He is the 1992 World Junior silver medalist and 1992 Karl Schäfer Memorial bronze medalist. Personal life Kostin was born on 4 September 1973 in Riga, Latvia. He studied psychology in Russia at the Moscow Sociological Institute. Career Competitive Early in his career, Kostin represented the Soviet Union. Mary Scotvold
Mary Batdorf Scotvold is an American figure skating coach, best known for her work with Olympic medalists Paul Wylie and Nancy Kerrigan, whom she co-coached with her husband, Evy Scotvold. She won the novice ladies title at the 1959 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. She later skated with Ice Follies and was married to former U.S. pair champion Ronald Ludington, for a time. In the mid-1970s, after separating from Ludington, she began coaching at the Wagon Wheel rink in Rockton, Illinois, where her pupils included a young Scott Hamilton. It was there that she teamed up with Evy Scotvold. They coached in Janesville, Wisconsin for a time before relocating to the Boston area in 1986. They are now semi-retired and coaching part-time in Jacksonville, Florida. The Skating Club of Boston is a not-for-profit figure skating club based in Norwood, Massachusetts. Founded in 1912, it is one of the oldest skating clubs in the United States, and a founding member of U.S. Figure Skating, the governing body for the sport in the United States. The Club's mission is to advance participation, education and excellence in skating for people of all ages, abilities and means. The Club has over 800 active members and offers a variety of programs for the public, reaching another 2,000 children and adults. Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic Games, when contested at the 1908 Olympics in London. The 2007 Ondrej Nepela Memorial was the 15th edition of an annual senior-level international figure skating competition held in Bratislava, Slovakia. It took place between September 20 and 22, 2007 at the Ondrej Nepela Ice Rink. Skaters competed in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The Nepela Memorial ( sk, Memoriál Ondreja Nepelu), formerly known as the Ondrej Nepela Trophy in 2013–15 & 2017 and the Ondrej Nepela Memorial, is an annual senior-level international figure skating competition. Named after Figure skating at the 1972 Winter Olympics, 1972 Olympic champion Ondrej Nepela, the competition has been held annually since 1993. The Eastern Sectional Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating which has been held since 1938. Skaters compete in five levels: Senior, Junior, Novice, Intermediate, and Juvenile. Medals are awarded in four disciplines: Ladies singles, Men's singles, Pairs, and Ice dance.
