Michele Trenti
Michele Trenti (born 25 August 1961) is an Italian composer and conductor. Biography Born in Genoa (Italy) on 25 August 1961, Trenti studied guitar for 13 years with Anselmo Bersano. From 1984 to 1988 studied composition with Iván Erőd and conducting with Milan Horvat at the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz (Austria), where he graduated summa cum laude. Master classes with Arpad Joo, Moshe Atzmon, and Leonard Bernstein. From 1988 to 2004 Trenti was Artistic Director of the Genoese Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1989 to 2004 Trenti has been principal conductor of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Genoa, and from 1997 to 1999, vice president of the AMI-Italian Association of Musicians, based in Pesaro. Iván Erőd
Iván Erőd ( hu, Erőd Iván ; 2 January 1936 – 24 June 2019; sometimes spelled ''Eröd'') was a Hungarian-Austrian composer and pianist. Educated in Budapest, he emigrated to Austria in 1956, where he studied at the Vienna Music Academy. He was successful as a pianist and composer of operas, chamber music and much more, with elements from serialism, Hungarian folk music and jazz. He first was a professor of music theory and composition at the University of Music in Graz (1967–1989), then a professor of composition at the Vienna Music Academy from 1989. Career Born in Budapest, Erőd studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music with Pál Kadosa (piano) and Ferenc Szabó (composition). Moshe Atzmon ( he, משה עצמון, born 30 July 1931) is an Israeli conductor. He was born Móse Grószberger in Budapest, and at the age of thirteen he emigrated with his family to Tel Aviv, Israel. He started his musical career on the horn before going to London for further studies in conducting. He has won several conducting prizes and held many positions with major orchestras. He was chief conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra from 1967 to 1971 and the Basel Symphony Orchestra from 1972 to 1986. ''Via Crucis'', () S.53, is a work for mixed choir, soloists and organ (also harmonium or piano) by Franz Liszt. The work is devoted to the Stations of the Cross. It is one of the last works of Liszt. Liszt started the composition of this work in the fall of 1878 when he stayed in Rome and ended it in February 1879 in Budapest. There are three sources of the work available: the first sketches in Weimar, the manuscript of the whole work in Budapest and a copy of it in Weimar. The original version was set with accompaniment by organ. Liszt made later a version with piano. The work is a special case in the oeuvre of Liszt, especially because it is a work of great serenity. The work is also special because it reaches the limits of tonality, breaking the status quo of predominant tonal music of the time.
