Michael Riley
Michael Riley (born February 4, 1962) is a Canadian actor. From 1998 to 2000, he portrayed Brett Parker in ''Power Play''. He has acted in over 40 films and television series, including '' This Is Wonderland'', for which he received a Gemini Award, and the Emmy-nominated BBC / Discovery Channel co-production '' Supervolcano''. He also portrays a leading character in the 2009 CBC Television series ''Being Erica''. Riley was born in London, Ontario, and graduated from the National Theatre School in Montreal, Quebec in 1984. Riley's first screen appearance was in the film ''No Man's Land'' (1987). As a stage actor, he received a Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination for his performance as Arkady in George F. Walker's '' Nothing Sacred'' in 1988. He has voiced the animated title character of Ace Lightning. Michael Riley (curler)
Michael C. "Mike" Riley (born April 16, 1955) is a Canadian curler originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He skipped his home province to a Brier championship in 1984. Career Riley has been to three Briers. In 1975, he played third for Rod Hunter and at the Brier that year, they finished with a 6-5 record, tied for fifth place. Riley returned to the Brier in 1984, skipping a team of Brian Toews, John Helston and Russ Wookey. The team finished the round robin with an 8-3 record, in 1st place, which gave them a bye to the final against Ontario's Ed Werenich. The Manitoba four-some defeated "the Wrench" by a score of 7-4. The team would then go on to represent Canada at the 1984 Air Canada Silver Broom, the World Curling Championships. They would finish the round robin with a 6-3 record, but lost in the semi-final against Switzerland's Peter Attinger, Jr. This result placed them in 4th position. Michael Riley (6 Jan 1960 – August 2004) was an Aboriginal Australian photographer and filmmaker, and co-founder of Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Cooperative. A significant figure in contemporary Indigenous Australian art, Riley's work is held by many public art institutions, including the National Gallery of Australia. Early life and education Riley was born on 6 January 1960 in Dubbo, central New South Wales, to Allen Riley and Dorothy, née Wright. Michael Riley is an English film producer. He is CEO of Bristol and London-based production company Sterling Pictures. Biography Born in Nottingham, Michael Riley grew up in Edwalton. He attended the University of Ulster in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, studying English, Media and Theatre studies. His factual work includes documentaries in China about the Uyghurs in Xinjiang; Kenya where he produced the Turner Prize nominated short film Waiting for artist Zarina Bhimji; and India where he interviewed the 14th Dalai Lama at his palace in Dharamshala. He produced ''In A Land Of Plenty'', a ten-part drama series for the BBC by Sterling Pictures (with TalkBack Productions). He continues to produce mainly feature films in the UK and many of his films have won awards at international film festivals.
