Michael Lerner (actor)
Michael C. Lerner (born June 22, 1941) is an American actor. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in ''Barton Fink'' (1991). Lerner has also played Arnold Rothstein in ''Eight Men Out'' (1988), Phil Gillman in '' Amos & Andrew'' (1993), The Warden in '' No Escape'' (1994), Mayor Ebert in Roland Emmerich's ''Godzilla'' (1998), Mr. Greenway in '' Elf'' (2003), and Senator Brickman in '' X-Men: Days of Future Past'' (2014). Life and career Lerner was born on June 22, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York City, of Romanian-Jewish descent, the son of Blanche and George Lerner, a fisherman and antiques dealer. He was raised in Red Hook, Brooklyn and in Solon, Ohio. His brother Ken and nephew Sam are also actors. Lerner began his acting career in the late 1960s at the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) in San Francisco. Alex In Wonderland
''Alex in Wonderland'' is a 1970 American comedy-drama film directed by Paul Mazursky, written with his partner Larry Tucker, starring Donald Sutherland and Ellen Burstyn. Sutherland plays Alex Morrison, a director agonizing over the choice of follow-up project after the success of his first feature film. The situation is similar to the one Mazursky found himself in following the success of '' Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice'' (1969) and he casts himself in a role as a new-style Hollywood producer. His daughter Meg Mazursky appears as Amy, one of Morrison's daughters. Noted teacher of improvisational theater Viola Spolin plays Morrison's mother. ''The Missiles of October'' is a 1974 docudrama made-for-television play about the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962. The title evokes the 1962 book ''The Guns of August'' by Barbara Tuchman about the missteps amongst the great powers and the failed chances to give an opponent a graceful way out, which led to World War I. The teleplay introduced William Devane as President John F. Kennedy and cast Martin Sheen as Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. It was broadcast on Wednesday, December 18, 1974. Michel De Ghelderode
Michel de Ghelderode (born Adémar Adolphe Louis Martens, 3 April 1898 – 1 April 1962) was an avant-garde Belgian dramatist, from Flanders, who spoke and wrote in French. His works often deal with the extremes of human experience, from death and degradation to religious exaltation. He wrote plays and short stories, and was a noted letter writer. Personal life Michel de Ghelderode was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1898. Ghelderode's father, Henri-Louis Martens, was employed as a royal archivist, a line of work later to be pursued by young Ghelderode.
