Michael Gordon (composer)
Michael Gordon (born July 20, 1956) is an American composer and co-founder of the " Bang on a Can" music collective and festival. He grew up in Nicaragua. Life and career Michael Gordon was born in Florida on July 20, 1956. He grew up in Nicaragua and on the outskirts of Managua in an Eastern European Jewish community before moving to Miami Beach at age of eight. Gordon's music is an outgrowth of his experience with underground rock bands in New York City and his formal training in composition at Yale where he studied with Martin Bresnick. He is based in New York City. Bang on a Can Gordon is one of the founders and artistic directors of New York's Bang on a Can Festival, alongside fellow composers Julia Wolfe—his wife—and David Lang. He has collaborated with them on several projects. The Proms

Robert Zollitsch (born 1966) is a composer and producer of new Chinese music. He is known as Lao Luo (, literally "Old Ro/Gong") in China, and established himself as an expert of traditional Asian music and a very important composer of contemporary Chinese art music. Early life and education Zollitsch was born in Munich, Germany in 1966. Zollitsch grew up with the Folk music of his home region, learning early in his childhood a classical Bavarian folk music instrument, the Bavarian zither. Gong Linna (; born 1 August 1975) is a Chinese fusion singer. Her style is one which combines the traditional "lightness" and "ch'i" of centuries-old melodies with new lyrics. She has performed many pieces composed or arranged by her husband, German composer Robert Zollitsch who is known in Chinese as Lao Luo (), and collaborated with Portuguese fado musician António Chainho. Since 2002 Gong and Zollitsch have been making field trips to provinces including Guizhou, Shaanxi and Fujian, seeking to understand and preserve local folk music. The Kitchen
The Kitchen is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary avant-garde performance and experimental art institution located at 512 West 19th Street, between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It was founded in Greenwich Village in 1971 by Steina and Woody Vasulka, who were frustrated at the lack of an outlet for video art. The space takes its name from the original location, the kitchen of the Mercer Arts Center which was the only available place for the artists to screen their video pieces.
