Michael Doyle (hurler)
Michael Doyle (born 1958) is an Irish former hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Tipperary county team Born in Holycross, County Tipperary, Doyle first played competitive hurling whilst at school in Thurles CBS. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Tipperary minor team, before later joining the under-21 team. He joined the senior panel during the 1976 championship. Doyle went on to play a key part for Tipperary during a largely barren era for the team, and won one Munster medal and one National Hurling League medal. At club level Doyle is a one-time championship medallist with Holycross–Ballycahill. His father, John Doyle, was an eight-time All-Ireland medallist with Tipperary and is regarded as one of the greatest player of all-time. Holycross–Ballycahill GAA
Holycross–Ballycahill GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club that is centred on the villages of Holycross and Ballycahill and is located around five miles outside Thurles. History The club was founded in 1885. Holycross–Ballycahill GAA club compete in the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. The period from 1947 to 1953 was the club's golden era. Four Mid Tipperary Senior Titles and three Senior County Tipperary titles in 1948, 1951 and 1954, under the captaincy of Francis Maher. The Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Luimneach) or Limerick GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Limerick. Galmoy GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Galmoy, County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. The Harps GAA
The Harps GAA is a hurling, Gaelic football and camogie club in County Laois, Ireland. It is a combination of players from the villages of Cullohill and Durrow. Hurling and camogie are the dominant sports in the club but, the club also fields football teams. The club colours are yellow with red trim, and its grounds are in Durrow and Cullohill. History The club was formed in 1984 as an amalgamation of the old clubs of Durrow and Cullohill. In their very first year, the club reached the Laois Senior Hurling Championship final but lost to Portlaoise in a replay. Donie O'Connell
Donie O'Connell (born 24 June 1960) is an Irish retired hurler. His league and championship career with the Tipperary senior team lasted ten seasons from 1981 to 1991. O'Connell first appeared for the Killenaule club at juvenile and underage levels, before eventually joining the club's adult team with whom he won three South Tipperary championship medals. O'Connell made his debut on the inter-county scene when he was selected for the Tipperary minor team as a dual player. He enjoyed two unsuccessful championship seasons in this grade. O'Connell subsequently joined the under-21 hurling team, winning back-to-back All-Ireland medals in 1980 and 1981. He later joined the Tipperary senior team, making his debut during the 1981-82 league. Over the course of the following ten seasons he enjoyed much success, culminating with the winning of All-Ireland medals in 1989 and 1991. All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling Under-20 All-Ireland Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling Under-20 All-Ireland Championship) is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in Ireland. The championship was contested as the All-Ireland Under-21 Championship between 1964 and 2018 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2019. The final, currently held on the fourth Sunday in August, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during the summer months, and the results determine which team receives the James Nowlan Cup.
