Michael D. Career Before being elected to the state senate, Dr. MacDonald worked in the health care field as an exercise physiologist and personal trainer for nearly 10 years prior to obtaining a Doctoral Degree in Health Care Administration in 2015. After redistricting in 2022, MacDonald was placed into the Michigan's 11th Senate district, 11th Senate district. Michigan's 10th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 10th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. It has been represented by Democrat Paul Wojno since 2023, succeeding Republican Michael D. MacDonald. Geography District 10 encompasses parts of Macomb and Wayne counties. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 10, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, was based in central Macomb County to the north of Detroit, including Sterling Heights, Macomb Township, and most of Clinton Township. Veronica Klinefelt is an American politician who is the state senator representing Michigan's 11th Senate district, following the 2022 Michigan Senate election. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Political career Klinefelt began her political career as a member of the East Detroit School Board, serving for six years. She was then the mayor pro tem of Eastpointe for six years. She served on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners for ten years, representing Eastpointe. Michigan Senate
The Michigan Senate is the upper house of the Michigan Legislature. Along with the Michigan House of Representatives, it composes the state legislature, which has powers, roles and duties defined by Article IV of the Michigan Constitution, adopted in 1963. The primary purpose of the Legislature is to enact new laws and amend or repeal existing laws. The Michigan Senate is composed of 38 members, each elected from a single-member district with a population of between approximately 212,400 to 263,500 residents.
