Kim Mi-jung (judoka, Born 1971)
Kim Mi-Jung (born 29 March 1971 in Masan, Gyeongsangnam-do) is a female South Korean retired judoka. She was a shot putter in high school but changed to be a judoka at the age of 17, and in a year Kim was selected to be a member of the South Korean national judo team in 1989. Next year, Kim won bronze at the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing, and in 1991 she became her world champion in the 72 kg division at the World Championships in Barcelona. At the 1992 Summer Olympics she finally won the Olympic gold medal in the women's Half Heavyweight (72 kg) category. Kim retired from competitive judo after winning gold in the 1994 Asian Game. She has been serving as a judo coach and professor for Yong-In University, South Korea. Hanja (Hangul: ; Hanja: , ), alternatively known as Hancha, are Chinese characters () used in the writing of Korean. Hanja was used as early as the Gojoseon period, the first ever Korean kingdom. Mi-Jung Lee (born September 12, 1966) (; born in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, South Korea) is a Canadian television journalist and news anchor based in Vancouver, British Columbia. She formerly co-anchored the weeknight 6pm newscast alongside Scott Roberts on CTV Vancouver, Roberts has since moved on to CTV Edmonton and Lee is anchoring solo. Biography She moved with her family from South Korea to Vancouver at age 4, and graduated from Sir Charles Tupper Secondary School in 1984. Kim Mi-Jung (also ''Kim Mi-Jeong'', ko, 김 미정; born June 10, 1979, in Seoul) is a female South Korean race walker. She set both a national record and a personal best time of 1:29:38, by winning the women's 20 km at the 2008 National Sports Festival in Yeosu. Furthermore, Kim became the first female South Korean to cross the finish line under one hour and thirty minutes, and also, achieved a total of seven national records (2001–2008) and eight straight victories in the same event. Kim made her official debut for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where she placed twenty-fifth in the women's 20 km race walk, and shattered her first career national record-breaking time of 1:36.09.
