Metropolitan Library Service Agency
The Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA) is a regional library system in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area of Minnesota. It consists of eight library systems in seven counties, with a total of over one hundred member libraries. Library card holders at any member system may borrow materials from another MELSA member system. MELSA provides numerous resources for its member libraries such as electronic books. Twin Cities
Twin cities are a special case of two neighboring cities or urban centres that grow into a single conurbation – or narrowly separated urban areas – over time. There are no formal criteria, but twin cities are generally comparable in status and size, though not necessarily equal; a city and a substantially smaller suburb would not typically qualify, even if they were once separate. Tri-cities and quad cities are similar phenomena involving three or four municipalities. A common – but not universal – scenario is two cities that developed concurrently on opposite sides of a river. Dakota County Library is a public library in Dakota County, Minnesota, headquartered in the Wescott Library in Eagan. The system includes 10 locations. History of the Dakota County Library Early history Dakota County Library as it exists today is a combination of several smaller libraries. The earliest of these were the Farmington Library, established in 1871 and the Hastings Library, established in 1873.
