''Merseybeast'' is an album by Ian McNabb, his third as a solo artist. The name is a play on "Merseybeat", a 1960s musical genre and movement. ''Merseybeast'' is also the title of Ian McNabb's autobiography, published in 2008. A second CD entitled ''North West Coast'' was also released in limited quantities. The album peaked at No. 30 on the official UK charts. Critical reception Roch Parisien of '' Allmusic'' praised McNabb's "open, wide-eyed innocence" on the album, remarking that the sentiments expressed in the songs defy the conventions of rock music, and that his sincerity makes them work. The site gave ''Merseybeast'' a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5. Merseybeast (song)
"Merseybeast" is the ninth solo single released by Ian McNabb. The song was the second and final single to be released from the album of the same name. It charted at number 74 on the UK Singles Chart. The CD single came in two distinct 'halves'; the spines of which could be connected to display one collective spine. Ian McNabb
Robert Ian McNabb (born 3 November 1960) is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Previously the frontman of The Icicle Works, McNabb has since embarked on a solo career and performed with Ringo Starr, Neil Young/Crazy Horse, Mike Scott (of The Waterboys), and Danny Thompson of folk band Pentangle. McNabb's first book, an autobiography entitled ''Merseybeast'', was published in October 2008. Early life Robert Ian McNabb was born in Lourdes Hospital (now Spire Liverpool Hospital) in Mossley Hill, Liverpool, the first and only child of Patricia (née Forsyth) and Robert Gerard McNabb. At 18 months old he contracted pneumonia, leaving him with a damaged left lung. Billy Talbot
William Hammond Talbot (born October 23, 1943) is an American singer-songwriter and musician, best known as the bassist of Crazy Horse. Music career Born in New York City, Talbot started his musical career singing on street corners at the age of 14. He moved to New Jersey with his family the next year, and by 17 he had moved to Los Angeles. There, he befriended fellow expatriate New Yorker Ralph Molina, Danny Whitten and Benjamin Rocco. Together they formed a doo-wop group called Danny and the Memories. After moving the group to San Francisco, they morphed into The Psyrcle, which eventually grew to encompass Leon and George Whitsell along with Bobby Notkoff. Cassell Webb is a British–American musician and producer, whose musical career has incorporated psychedelia, country music, folk rock, and progressive rock. Biography Born in Llano, Texas, United States, in the late 1940s, Webb began playing guitar at 14 and later became involved with the psychedelic scene in San Antonio. She became a member of the Children, a psychedelic group that was part of Lelan Rogers' stable of artists, appearing on their 1968 ''Rebirth'' album and several singles.
