Bryn Merrick
Bryn Merrick (12 October 1958 – 12 September 2015) was a bassist who was a member of Cardiff-based punk band Victimize. He later joined the Damned between 1983 and 1989, replacing Paul Gray, who had left for UFO. Merrick's first release with the Damned was the single "Thanks for the Night" b/w "Nasty". He was the Damned's bassist on the albums ''Phantasmagoria'' (1985) and ''Anything'' (1986). Merrick played with the Shamones, a Ramones tribute band that toured the UK for five years, until splitting in August 2015. Ben Merrick
Benjamin Robert Merrick is a British civil servant who was Director of Overseas Territories at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office from August 2017 until July 2021. He held the position of Commissioner of the British Antarctic Territory and Commissioner of the British Indian Ocean Territory, prior to that he was the deputy director of the Overseas Territories and was among the cabinet office of Ministry of Defence as Head of Arms Control and Counter Proliferation Policy from 2012 to 2015. Gil Merrick
Gilbert Harold Merrick (26 January 1922 – 3 February 2010) was an English footballer and football manager. Considered one of the best goalkeepers in the UK during the mid-1950s, Merrick was one in a long line of great Birmingham City keepers which included the likes of Johnny Schofield and Harry Hibbs. Merrick spent his entire career at Birmingham City, playing more than 700 times between 1939 and 1960. He made 170 appearances during the Second World War and 485 in the Football League following the end of the war. He won 23 caps for the England national team, and played in the 1954 World Cup. After retirement as a player, he managed the club for four years. Birmingham City renamed the Railway Stand at their St Andrew's stadium the Gil Merrick Stand for the start of the 2009–10 season. Ernest Merrick OAM (born 15 January 1953) is a Scottish-Australian coach, who last managed A-League soccer club Newcastle Jets. He was released on 6 January 2020. Bob Merrick
Robert 'Bob' Merrick (23 July 1893 – 24 October 1981) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy in the VFL. Personal life Merrick was born at Darlinghurst, New South Wales, the son of Robert and Lillian Rose Merrick. He was a printer by trade. He married Minnie Ruth Duncan in 1917 at Redfern, New South Wales, and they had two children, John Robert and Kathleen Helen. He was survived by each of them when he died on 24 October 1981. Playing Merrick was originally from Sydney and prior to joining Fitzroy played his football with Port Melbourne, finishing the 1915 VFA season as the league's leading goalkicker. He debuted for Fitzroy in 1919 and playing as a full-forward, topped Fitzroy's goalkicking every year until he left in 1922, with 42, 53, 32 and 47 goals respectively. Alan Merrick
Alan Ronald Merrick (born 20 June 1950) is a retired English-American Association football defender who played professionally in England, the North American Soccer League and the Major Indoor Soccer League. He also earned one cap with the United States men's national soccer team in 1983. Player Club Merrick was born in Selly Oak, Birmingham, but grew up in North Warwickshire, where he attended Water Orton Junior School and Coleshill Grammar School. He joined West Bromwich Albion in July 1966, turning professional in August 1967. He made his senior debut in September 1968 in a League Cup tie against Peterborough United and in the same year won three England youth caps. In 1975 the team loaned Merrick to second division club Peterborough. At the end of the season, Merrick moved to the USA where he signed with the Minnesota Kicks of the North American Soccer League. Sir John Merrick (1584–1659) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1640 to 1648. He fought in the Parliamentary army in the English Civil War. Military career John Merrick joined the 3rd earl of Essex's expedition to Flanders in 1620. In 1624, he fought as a soldier in the Low Countries and fought in Spain in 1625; he was also knighted that year. He fought in the Thirty Years' War under Gustavus Adolphus and was wounded on 17 August 1632 before Maastricht. In 1639-40, he commanded a regiment in the Bishops' Wars. When the Irish rebellion broke out in October 1641, the Commons recommended Sir John for a commission in Ireland. William Duhurst Merrick (October 25, 1793February 5, 1857) was a United States Senator from Maryland, serving from 1838 to 1845. Merrick was born in Annapolis, Maryland and completed preparatory studies. He later graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Merrick held several local offices and served in the War of 1812. He was the register of wills of Charles County, Maryland from 1825 to 1832. He studied law, was admitted to the bar, and commenced practice in Port Tobacco, Maryland. From 1832 to 1838, Merrick served in the Maryland House of Delegates.
