Mendham Township, New Jersey
Mendham Township is a township in Morris County, in the central portion of northern New Jersey, United States, located more than due west of New York City. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 5,869, reflecting an increase of 469 (+8.7%) from the 5,400 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 863 (+19.0%) from the 4,537 counted in the 1990 Census. It is part of the New York metropolitan area, as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY- NJ- CT- PA Combined Statistical Area. The township may be named for Mendham, Suffolk, England, or it may derive from the Native American word ''mendom'' (meaning "raspberry") or for an Earl of Mendham. The long-established hamlets of Brookside and Ralston are located within the township and both are listed among the National Register of Historic Places. 2000 United States Census
The United States census of 2000, conducted by the Census Bureau, determined the resident population of the United States on April 1, 2000, to be 281,421,906, an increase of 13.2 percent over the 248,709,873 people enumerated during the 1990 census.
