Paul Mendelssohn Bartholdy (born Paul Felix Abraham Mendelssohn Bartholdy; 18 January 1841, Leipzig – 17 February 1880, Berlin) was a German chemist and a pioneer in the manufacture of aniline dye. He co-founded the Aktien-Gesellschaft für Anilin-Fabrikation (AGFA), a German chemical company. Everett Irwin Mendelsohn (October 28, 1931 – June 6, 2023) was an American historian of science. He was Professor Emeritus of the History of Science at Harvard University, where he was a faculty member from 1960 until his retirement in 2007. Erich Mendelsohn (21 March 1887 – 15 September 1953) was a German architect, known for his expressionist architecture in the 1920s, as well as for developing a dynamic Functionalism (architecture), functionalism in his projects for department stores and cinemas. Carolyn Mendelsohn is an English portrait photographer. Life and work Mendelsohn originally trained and worked as an actor and film-maker, becoming a professional photographer in 2008. In 2016 she won a gold medal in the Royal Photographic Society's International Photography Exhibition (IPE 159) for ''Alice Being Inbetween'', part of her project "Being Inbetween" for which she is photographing girls aged 10 to 12; this portrait was also selected for the 2017 Portrait of Britain, being one of 100 photographs which were displayed on billboards nationwide.
