Grand Palais
The Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées ( en, Great Palace of the Elysian Fields), commonly known as the Grand Palais (English: Great Palace), is a historic site, exhibition hall and museum complex located at the Champs-Élysées in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, France. Construction of the Grand Palais began in 1897 following the demolition of the Palais de l'Industrie (Palace of Industry) to prepare for the Universal Exposition of 1900. That exposition also produced the adjacent Petit Palais and Pont Alexandre III. The building was designed to be a large-scale venue for official artistic events. A pediment on the building refers to this function with an inscription that reads, "a monument dedicated by the Republic to the glory of French art." Designed according to Beaux-Arts tastes, the building features ornate stone facades, glass vaults and period innovations that included iron and light steel framing and reinforced concrete. Oh Eun-seok
Oh Eun-seok (; born 2 April 1983) is a South Korean retired sabre fencer. He is an Olympic and Asian Games gold medalist in the team event. Early life A native of Daegu, Oh was a former runner and took up fencing in middle school. He attended Osung High School, one of the few high schools in the city with a fencing club. It was not until he enrolled at Dong-Eui University, known for its fencing team, that he decided to turn professional. Career Oh won gold in team sabre and silver in individual sabre at the 2003 Junior World Fencing Championships in Trapani, Italy. He also participated in the Universiade hosted by his hometown and won silver in the individual event. In 2005 he reached the final of the Seoul Grand Prix and was defeated by his rookie national teammate Kim Jung-hwan. Kim is a seven-time team Asian champion, two-time individual Asian champion, two-time team world champion, and 2018 individual world champion. Oleh Shturbabin (in Ukrainian ; born 22 July 1984) is a Ukrainian sabre fencer, bronze medallist in the 2005 World Fencing Championships and silver team medallist in the 2006 World Fencing Championships. Career Shturbabin is the son of fencing coach Valery Shturbabin, who currently trains Ukraine's national sabre team. He took up fencing at the age of six. His first major award was a bronze medal at the 2001 Cadet World Championships in Gdańsk, followed by a team bronze medal at the Junior World Championships. He was offered a scholarship by an American college, but he refused as he did not want to move. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics, finishing in sixth position in the sabre event.
