Men's Indoor Hockey World Cup
The Men's Indoor Hockey World Cup is an international indoor field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The tournament was first held in 2003 and it is held every four years. Format Twelve qualified teams will be divided into two pools. The top two in their pool qualified for first to fourth classification, while third and fourth qualified for fifth to eighth classification, the last two teams will play for the last four placings. Qualification Qualification is set by the governing body, the International Hockey Federation. The qualified teams include the host country, continental champions and the most recent World Cup final ranking. 2003 Indoor Hockey World Cup
The 2003 Men's Indoor Hockey World Cup was the first edition of the Men's Indoor Hockey World Cup the quadrennial world championship for men's national indoor hockey teams organized by the International Hockey Federation. It occurred in February 2003, in Leipzig, Germany. The host nation Germany won both the men's and women's gold medals. The Eurosport TV channel covered the event, which had good ratings despite the late schedule. The 2015 Men's Indoor Hockey World Cup was also held in Leipzig, Germany. Men's FIH Hockey World Cup
The Men's FIH Hockey World Cup is an international field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The tournament was started in 1971. It is held every four years, bridging the four years between the Summer Olympics. Pakistan is the most successful team, having won the tournament four times. The Netherlands and Australia have each won three titles, and Germany has won two titles. Belgium and India have both won the tournament once. The 2018 tournament was held in Bhubaneswar, India from 28 November to 16 December. Belgium defeated Netherlands in a penalty shoot-out 3–2 after the match ended in a 0–0 draw to win their first World Cup title. The 2022 Men's FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup would have been the sixth edition of this tournament and scheduled to be played from 2 to 6 February 2022 in Liège, Belgium. It was originally scheduled for February 2021, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was cancelled on 10 January 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A penalty shootout is a method used in field hockey to decide which team progresses to the next stage of a tournament (or wins the tournament) following a tied game. Two methods have been used: the original penalty stroke competition is a best-of-five penalty strokes with sudden death if scores were level after five strokes. An alternate penalty shoot-out competition was introduced at major tournaments in 2011.
