Memos Ioannou
Agamemnon "Memos" Ioannou ( el, Αγαμέμνων "Μέμος" Ιωάννου; born April 15th, 1958 in Greece) is a retired Greek professional basketball player and coach. At 6'2¾" (1.90 m), he played at the point guard and shooting guard positions. Professional playing career Ioannou had a successful playing career with Panathinaikos, as he won 6 Greek League championships (1975, 1977, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1984) and 4 Greek Cups (1979, 1982, 1983, 1986) with the club. He also won another Greek Cup with Aris, in the 1991–92 season. At that final, he was interim coach. In 1991, he won the FIBA European Cup Winners' Cup (later called FIBA Saporta Cup) championship, while playing with PAOK. In 1993, Ioannou won the FIBA European Cup again, this time while playing with Aris. Cypriot Basketball League
The Cypriot Basketball Division A is currently the top-tier level men's professional basketball competition of the Cypriot basketball league system. It is run and governed by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. Format At present, six clubs compete in the league. Since the 2016–17 season, the six teams play each other four times during the regular season, with the top 4 teams reaching the play-off semi-finals stage. One team (the last one) at the end of the season is relegated to the second division, whilst one team from the second division is promoted. The play-off semi-finals and the championship winner will be decided after three wins. The championship winner, along with the winners of the Cypriot Cup, will qualify to compete in the next season's FIBA's European-wide continental competitions. Greek National Basketball Team
The Greece men's national basketball team ( el, Eθνική Oμάδα Καλαθοσφαίρισης Ελλάδος) represents Greece in international basketball. They are controlled by the Hellenic Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Greece. Greece is currently ranked ninth in the FIBA World Rankings. Greece appeared eight times at the FIBA World Cup, their best performance coming in 2006 as runners-up, after beating the United States 101–95 in the tournament's semi-final.
