Memorial Plaza (St. Louis, Missouri)
Memorial Plaza, established in 1932, is in the Downtown West neighborhood of St. Louis. The park contains memorials honoring St. Louis veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. On the eastern edge of the park is the Court of Honor containing monuments listing St. Louisans who lost their lives in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. It extends from 13th to 18th Street between Market and Chestnut and is surrounded by Union Station, Peabody Opera House, and the Soldier's Memorial Military Museum. Union Station is a St. Louis St. Louis MetroLink, MetroLink station. It is partially located underneath historic Union Station (St. Louis), St. Louis Union Station and primarily serves the Downtown West, St. Louis, Downtown West area, including Citypark (St. Louis), CITYPARK Stadium and the St. Louis Aquarium. The station is located below 18th Street at its intersection with Clark Avenue near the St. Louis Post Office and utilizes the former baggage tunnel at Union Station. In 2013, Metro's Arts in Transit program commissioned the work ''Spring Forth'' by Jim Gallucci for installation near the station. Peabody Opera House
The Stifel Theatre (originally known as the Municipal Opera House and formerly the Kiel Opera House and Peabody Opera House) is a civic performing arts building located in St. Louis, Missouri. About the venue Founded as the "Kiel Opera House" (in honor of former St. Louis Mayor Henry Kiel), opened in 1934 as a part of the "Municipal Auditorium and Opera House". The theatre operated until 1991, when it and the adjacent Kiel Auditorium were closed so the auditorium could be demolished and replaced by the Kiel Center, now known as Enterprise Center. When the auditorium was slated for demolition, the local consortium who owned the St. Louis Blues, Kiel Center's main tenant, promised to rehabilitate the opera house as well.
