Memento (Böhse Onkelz Album)
''Memento'' is the 16th studio album and at the same time the comeback album of the German hard rock band Böhse Onkelz. It was released on 28 October 2016 on their then newly-founded label Matapaloz. Title The title of the album ''Memento'' is Latin for "remember". The band was inspired to choose this name by the movie '' Memento''.Booklet Cover The band had asked their supporters in July 2016 to sent them pictures of their Onkelz-tattoos, promising them that all pictures would be printed on the CD or the booklet. Böhse Onkelz (), sensational spelling of ''böse Onkel'' (German for "evil uncles") is a German rock band formed in Frankfurt in 1980. The band reunited in 2014. Stephan Weidner
Stephan Weidner (born 29 May 1963), also known as Der W, is a German musician, songwriter and producer. From 1980 to 2005, he was the bassist, songwriter and leader of the German rock band Böhse Onkelz. He was also a singer with Nordend Antistars, a collaboration with Sub7even singer Daniel Wirtz. In April 2008, Weidner's first solo album ''Schneller, Höher, Weidner'' was released. Early life Weidner was raised by his father Tex Weidner with two half brothers and two sisters in an impoverished family. Conflicts with a school principal resulted in Weidner being banned from school. His father then moved the family to Hösbach near Aschaffenburg in Bavaria. There Weidner first met the musicians ( Kevin Russell and Peter "Pe" Schorowsky) who would later become the first line-up for Weidner's band, Böhse Onkelz. Peter Schorowsky
Peter "Pe" Schorowsky (born 15 June 1964) is a German musician and a founding member of the rock band Böhse Onkelz. He played drums until the band's split in 2005. Biography Schorowsky is the second of four brothers born to a Catholic family in the Bavaria, Baviarian town of Hösbach. After completing his formal education, he trained as a welder. He currently lives with his family in Oberägeri, Switzerland. He met Stephan Weidner and Kevin Russell in his hometown of Hösbach. In November 1980, they formed Böhse Onkelz, with Schorowsky on drums. After the band left the Oi! music scene, they achieved considerable success from the 1990s until the band's breakup in 2005. Matthias Röhr
Matthias "Gonzo" Röhr (born 16 April 1962) is a German musician who has been the guitarist of the rock band Böhse Onkelz since 1981. His stage name derives from ''Double Live Gonzo!'', an album by Ted Nugent. When Böhse Onkelz split up between 2005 and 2014, he was known as Matt Roehr. Early life Röhr grew up in the area of Frankfurt in a strictly Catholic family. The four Röhr brothers and sisters rarely saw their father due to his work schedule in a grocery store and later in his own kiosk in Frankfurt. The family moved often within the Frankfurt area. Career Röhr began playing the guitar at age 12. Despite his strict education and his youth, Röhr discovered what was important in his life. Kevin Russell (musician)
Kevin Richard Russell (born 12 January 1964) is a German singer and one of the three founding members of the rock band Böhse Onkelz. Biography His father is British, his mother is German. He was the band's lead singer from 1980 until the group broke up in 2005. Since 2012, he is the lead singer of the new band Veritas Maximus. In 2014, Böhse Onkelz reunited with Russell as their lead singer again. In October 2010, Russell was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for his role as driver in a hit-and-run accident near Frankfurt, driving under the influence of drugs and seriously injuring two people. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
