Alan John Brown (born 25 January 1946) is a former Australian politician who served as a Liberal Party of Australia (Victorian Division), Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, and Leader of the Opposition (Victoria), Leader of the Opposition from 1989 to 1991. Electoral District Of Mornington
The electoral district of Mornington is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. The electorate can be described as outer metropolitan and rural, including animal farming, grape production and wineries. The district is 155 square kilometres in area. It was first created in 1859 when the Electoral district of Evelyn and Mornington was abolished and split in two. The district of Mornington initially included the entire Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island and French Island. Currently it includes Mornington, Mount Eliza, Mount Martha and Tuerong, and parts of Baxter and Moorooduc. Mornington has been held by the Liberal Party since it was re-created in 1985. The electoral district of Melbourne is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It currently includes the localities of Docklands, Carlton, Melbourne, East Melbourne, West Melbourne, North Melbourne, Parkville, Newmarket, Kensington and Flemington, and includes Melbourne University. The district has been in existence since 1856 (it was abolished in 1859 and reestablished in 1889). The electorate was won in 2014 for the first time by Greens candidate Ellen Sandell. It has existed in two incarnations, first from 1976 to 2002, and was created again in the 2013 redistribution and came into effect at the 2014 state election. Ken Coghill
Kenneth Alistair Coghill (born 10 November 1944 in Mansfield, Victoria) is a former Australian politician. Life and career Educated at Caulfield Grammar School, Coghill studied Veterinary Science at the University of Melbourne and worked as a veterinarian before serving on the Wodonga City Council. He entered the Victorian Legislative Assembly as a Labor Party Member for Werribee in the 1979 State elections, and served as the Speaker of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1988 to 1992. After retiring from Parliament in 1995, he earned a Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne. He is currently an associate professor at Monash University.
