Members of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly who served in the 27th parliament of New South Wales held their seats from 1925 to 1927. They were elected at the 1925 New South Wales state election, 1925 state election on 30 May 1925. The Speaker of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, Speaker was James Dooley (Australian politician), James Dooley. Under the provisions of the Parliamentary Elections (Casual Vacancies) Act, casual vacancies were filled by the next unsuccessful candidate on the departing member's party list. If an Independent member retired, the Clerk of the Assembly determined who would fill the vacancy based on the departing members voting record in questions of confidence. New South Wales Legislative Assembly
The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is the lower of the two houses of the Parliament of New South Wales, an Australian state. The upper house is the New South Wales Legislative Council. Both the Assembly and Council sit at Parliament House in the state capital, Sydney. The Assembly is presided over by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The Assembly has 93 members, elected by single-member constituency, which are commonly known as seats. Voting is by the optional preferential system. Members of the Legislative Assembly have the post-nominals MP after their names. From the creation of the assembly up to about 1990, the post-nominals "MLA" (Member of the Legislative Assembly) were used. Alick Kay
Alick Dudley Kay (3 October 1884 – 4 February 1961) was an Australian politician and Domain orator. He is described by the Australian Dictionary of Biography as a "harmless ratbag". Early life and education Kay was born in the Sydney suburb of Petersham, New South Wales and educated at Petersham and Stanmore public schools. Alick became a clerk with New South Wales Government Railways and joined the Australian Army in 1915. Career Kay ran unsuccessfully for the federal seat of South Sydney for the Nationalist Party in 1917. In 1918 he left the Nationalists and started appearing regularly as an anti-Communist speaker at Sydney Domain. He also travelled regularly to Melbourne to orate next to the Yarra. In 1925, he won one of the five seats of North Shore under proportional representation in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as an independent. Electoral District Of Goulburn
Goulburn is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is represented by Wendy Tuckerman of the Liberal Party. Goulburn is a regional electorate. It encompasses all of Goulburn Mulwaree Council, Yass Valley Council, Upper Lachlan Shire, the eastern part of Hilltops Council and a large part of Wingecarribee Shire. Murray (The Murray until 1910) is an electoral district in the Australian state of New South Wales. Murray is a regional electorate lying in the southwestern corner of the state. It encompasses several local government areas, namely Wentworth Shire, Balranald Shire, Carrathool Shire, the City of Griffith, Leeton Shire, Hay Shire, Murrumbidgee Shire, Murray River Council, Edward River Council and Berrigan Shire. Newcastle is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales named after and including Newcastle. It is represented since the 2014 Newcastle by-election by Tim Crakanthorp of the Australian Labor Party. Vern Goodin
Vernon William Edward Goodin (24 July 1892 – 12 October 1971) was an Australian politician. Goodin was born in Kenthurst near Sydney and educated at Albion Street Superior public school and Sydney Boys High School, and became a teacher in state schools. He married Margaret Elsie Morison in December 1917 and they had one daughter and one son. Robert Gillies (Australian Politician)
Robert Towers Gillies (187626 July 1941) was an Australian politician. He was born on the Paterson River to farmers Dugald and Mary Gillies. He attended public school at Pimlico and worked as a blacksmith. Around 1903 he married Mabel Elsie McKeever, with whom he had six children. He farmed at Cudgera from around 1908, before relocating to Tweed Heads around 1922, where he became a contributor to the ''Tweed Daily'' and a councillor from 1922 to 1925. In 1925 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as one of the Labor members for Byron, but he was expelled in 1927 for his opposition to Jack Lang.
