Melrose Park is an unincorporated section of Cheltenham Township on the Philadelphia city line in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, It is bordered to the south by Cheltenham Avenue, to the west by Old York Road, to the east by New Second Street and to the north by Ashbourne Road. SEPTA provides public transportation to Melrose Park via the Melrose Park railroad station and SEPTA bus routes 28, 55, and 70. Melrose Park is represented by Madeleine Dean in the 4th Congressional District. It is a close-in suburb outside of Philadelphia. Edgar Lee Masters (August 23, 1868 – March 5, 1950) was an American attorney, poet, biographer, and dramatist. Chad Levitt (born November 21, 1975) is an American former NFL football player. He is Jewish, was born in Melrose Park, Pennsylvania, is 6–1, and had a playing weight of 231 pounds. He played high school football, and wrestled and competed in track and field, for Cheltenham High School, from which he graduated in 1993. In football his in his senior year set a new Cheltenham High School single season rushing record, and he was First-team and Outstanding Player of Suburban One Liberty League, Academic All-League, and a Montgomery County All Star. In wrestling, he was a Suburban One All-Star. In shot put and in the 4x100 relay, he was First-team All-League. Gratz College is a private Jewish college in Melrose Park, Pennsylvania. The college traces its origins to 1856 when banker, philanthropist, and communal leader Hyman Gratz and the Hebrew Education Society of Philadelphia (established in 1849 by Rebecca Gratz and Isaac Leeser) joined to establish a trust to create a Hebrew teachers college. Pennsylvania's fourth congressional district, effective January 3, 2019, encompasses the majority of Montgomery County and a small sliver of Berks County in southeastern Pennsylvania. Madeleine Dean Cunnane (born June 6, 1959) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district.
