Sweden entered the Eurovision Song Contest 1993, held in Millstreet, Ireland. At Eurovision, Sweden performed 13th, following France and preceding Ireland. As the close of the voting, they had finished 7th in a field of 25 with 89 points. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1993 Melodifestivalen 1993 was the selection for the 33rd song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 32nd time that this system of picking a song had been used. 1569 songs were submitted to Sveriges Television, SVT for the competition. The final was held in the Lisebergshallen in Gothenburg on 5 March 1993, presented by Triple & Touch and was broadcast on SVT2, TV2 and Sveriges Radio's Sveriges Radio P4, P4 network. The show was watched by 4,284,000 people, with a total of 166,045 votes cast. The winner was selected over two rounds of voting. Arvingarna
Arvingarna is a Swedish dansband formed in Gothenburg in 1989. The group consists of Casper Janebrink (vocals and bass guitar), Lars Larsson (guitars, vocals and keyboards), Kim Carlsson (vocals and guitars) and Tommy Carlsson (drums and vocals). At Melodifestivalen 1993, they performed the song '" Eloise", which won, allowing Arvingarna to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in Millstreet Co.Cork in May that year, where the song finished 7th. History Arvingarna was founded in 1989, following the members earlier having played heavy metal, without any major successes. The band's name ("The heirs") refers to the group member's parents, who also were active in dansbands. Arvingarna plays a form of dansband music that is it inspired by pop music and rock music, and has also being described as a boyband. Melodifestivalen 1999
Sweden was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, held in Jerusalem. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1999 Melodifestivalen 1999 was the selection for the 39th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 38th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 1,315 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition, with ten songs selected to compete. The final was held in the Victoriahallen in Stockholm on 27 February 1999, presented by Anders Lundin and Vendela Kirsebom Thommesen, and was broadcast on SVT2 and Sveriges Radio's P4 network. The winner was chosen through a 50/50 jury/televoting method, which was Charlotte Nilsson with the song "Tusen och en natt", written by Gert Lengstrand and Lars Diedricsson. Ireland In The Eurovision Song Contest 1993
Ireland was the host country of the Eurovision Song Contest 1993, held in Millstreet's Green Glens Arena, after Linda Martin won the 1992 Contest with " Why Me?". Radió Telfís Éireann (RTÉ) held a national final to select the Irish entry for the contest, which was won by Niamh Kavanagh and the song "In Your Eyes". Before Eurovision National final The Irish national final was held on 14 March 1993 at the Point Theatre in Dublin, hosted by Pat Kenny. 8 songs competed to represent the host country at the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, with the final winner selected by the votes of ten regional juries. Patrick Fiori (; born Patrick Jean-François Chouchayan, 23 September 1969) is a French singer of Armenian descent. Biography Beginnings Fiori was born to a French-Armenian father (Jacques Chouchayan) and a Corsican mother (Marie Antoinette Fiori) in Marseille, France. Ingela Birgitta "Pling" Forsman (born 26 August 1950 in , Sweden) is a Swedish lyricist in popular music. As a student Forsman attended the Adolf Fredrik's Music School in Stockholm. 1981–2009, 33 of her songs have competed in the Swedish Melodifestivalen, three of them winners: ''Bra vibrationer (song), Bra vibrationer'' (1985), ''Se på mej'' (1995) and ''Kärleken är'' (1998). She has also written the text to psalm number 862 in the Swedish hymn book, ''Blomningstid'', and two children's books. Richard Carlsohn
Richard Carlsohn (bord 29 January 1965 in Tranås, Sweden) is a Swedish actor and singer. His breakthrough was performing in the musical ''Cabaret'' at Oscarsteatern in 1989. Since then he has played many roles in musicals, including ''Les Misérables'' and ''The Phantom of the Opera''. Christer Björkman
Christer Samuel Björkman (; born 25 August 1957) is a Swedish singer and television producer. He represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 with the song "I morgon är en annan dag". From 2002 to 2021, he served as a producer of Melodifestivalen, and remained an important figure in Melodifestivalen and the Eurovision Song Contest. We Are All The Winners
"We Are All the Winners" is a song mixing lyrics in English and Swedish. Written by Nick Borgen, it was and performed by himself at Melodifestivalen 1993, where it ended up second behind Arvingarna's Eloise. With the song, however, Nick Borgen scored a huge 1993 hit in Sweden, peaking at 17th position at the Swedish singles chart, and staying at Svensktoppen for 23 weeks between 11 April-11 September 1993, topping the chart during the first 14 weeks. During the original performance, Erica Johansson, Frida Johansson and Maria Akraka appeared as background singers, under the name "Team Sweden". While the song's lyrics describes a man standing outdoors playing the accordion in all types of weather, the song has later become heavily associated with sports. In 1994, while keeping the title, he released a version in Norwegian, as his native Norway had qualified for the FIFA World Cup. He sang it together with Jan Åge Fjørtoft.
