Early life Melina Matthews was born in 1986, in Barcelona; she is the daughter of a Welsh father and a French mother, who were both interpreter/translators. Bubonic plague is one of three types of plague caused by the plague bacterium (''Yersinia pestis''). One to seven days after exposure to the bacteria, flu-like symptoms develop.
