Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) is one of the 36 Indian state football associations that are affiliated to the All India Football Federation. It is the state-level governing body of football in Meghalaya, India. The Meghalaya football team is also administered by the MFA. It sends state teams for Santosh Trophy and Senior Women's National Football Championship. Shillong () is a hill station and the capital of Meghalaya, a Indian state, state in northeastern India, which means "The Abode of Clouds". It is the headquarters of the East Khasi Hills district. Shillong Lajong FC (founded as Lajong SC) is an Indian professional football club based in Shillong, Meghalaya, that competes in the Shillong Premier League. The club was established in 1983 with the prime objective of improving the declining standard of football in the state, and to spot, train and nurture local talent. In the local Khasi language, ''Lajong'' translates to "our own". Nicknamed "the red dragons", they previously competed in the I-League, then top flight of Indian football league system. Rangdajied United FC (formerly known as Ar-Hima) is an Indian professional association football club based in Mawngap-Mawphlang, approximately 20 km south-west of Shillong, East Khasi hills, Meghalaya. Langsning SC is an Indian professional football club based in Shillong, Meghalaya. The club competes in Shillong Premier League and has previously competed in I-League 2nd Division, then second tier of football in India. History Langsning SC is a Khasi football club; the name "Langsning" is taken from one locality in Shillong known as Jaiaw Langsning, and most of the players are from this or neighbouring localities. The Santosh Trophy, officially known as Hero Senior Men's National Football Championship due to sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp, is a state-level football competition contested by the state associations and government institutions under the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the sport's governing body in India. Before the starting of the first national club league, the National Football League in 1996, the Santosh Trophy was considered the top domestic honour in India. Many players who have represented India internationally, played and gained honour while playing in the Santosh Trophy.
