Megan McCarthy
Megan Maire McCarthy (born September 20, 1966) is an American former Association football, soccer player who played as a Defender (association football), defender, making 42 appearances for the United States women's national soccer team, United States women's national team. Career In high school, McCarthy played for the Robinson Rams, Rams of Robinson Secondary School from 1981 to 1984. She was selected as an United Soccer Coaches, NSCAA High School All-American in 1983 and 1984, leading the Rams to a Virginia state championship. She also played for the youth team Braddock Road Youth Club, becoming under-19 national champions in 1984. Jill Ellis also attended and played soccer at Robinson Secondary School, and joined Braddock Road upon McCarthy's recommendation. The Serie A (), also called Serie A Femminile TIM due to sponsorship by TIM, is the highest league of women's football in Italy. Established in 1968, it has been run by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) since the 2018–19 season, and currently features 10 teams. Oneonta ( ) is a city in southern Otsego County, New York, United States. It is one of the northernmost cities of the Appalachian Region. 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup
The 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup was the inaugural FIFA Women's World Cup, the world championship for women's national association football teams. It took place in Guangdong, China from 16 to 30 November 1991. FIFA, football's international governing body selected China as host nation as Guangdong had hosted a prototype world championship three years earlier, the 1988 FIFA Women's Invitation Tournament. Matches were played in the provincial capital, Guangzhou, as well as in Foshan, Jiangmen and Zhongshan. The competition was sponsored by Mars, Incorporated, maker of M&M's candy. The William & Mary Tribe is a moniker for the College of William & Mary's athletic teams and the university's community more broadly.
