Meelis Kompus
Meelis Kompus (born December 27, 1980 in Tallinn) is an Estonian civil servant and former Estonian TV and radio host, employed by the Estonian Public Broadcasting. He has graduated from the Tallinn University in 2003 in radio production (B.A.) and continued in Tartu University, where he received the M.A. in cultural management in 2012. At the age of 27, he became a news anchor of ''Aktuaalne kaamera'', the evening news programme of Estonian Television, thus being among the youngest ever in that job. He resigned in 2013 to start working in government affairs. Since 2014, Kompus is serving as the head of communications and spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture of Estonia. He was involved with the 2017 Estonian Youth Song and Dance Festival as a script writer. Eesti Televisioon (ETV) ( en, Estonian Television) is an Estonian free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Estonian Public Broadcasting. It made its first broadcast on 19 July 1955. History Eesti Televisioon (''Estonian Television'') was launched on 19 July 1955. Before that, television broadcasts in Estonia could only be received from Moscow. The very first Estonian-language TV presenter was Ofelia Mikk, whose debut was in the 19 July 1955 test broadcast. Her tenure in television was cut short, because she misspoke out of nervousness. The first tenured presenter for the nascent ETV was Ruth Peramets-Püss (1927–2005). To find a presenter, a casting competition was held in 1955, but no suitable person was found. Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. Aktuaalne kaamera (abbreviated AK) is an Estonian television news program shown in Eesti Televisioon. They first broadcast on March 11, 1956, which makes AK the oldest continuously running television program in Estonia. Since October 1958, AK broadcasts every day. Earlier, it was every week. Tartu University
