Medina Valley
Medina Valley, also known as the Medina River Valley, is an area in south central Texas containing the Medina River, Lake Medina, and the Medina Dam. It serves to drain the Balcones Escarpment of the Texas Hill Country and irrigate the fire contained therein. It is approximately 120 miles (190 km) long and is named for the Medina River. Natural features The geology of Medina Valley has been analyzed for some time, with a prominent feature being the Balcones Fault Zone. There are a number of flora and fauna species associated with the Medina Valley. Some of the species in and close to Medina Valley have their distributional range defined by the Medina Valley and/or the Balcones Fault. Bandera, Texas
Bandera (Spanish: "flag", ) is the county seat of Bandera County, Texas, United States, in the Texas Hill Country, which is part of the Edwards Plateau. The population was 857 at the 2010 census. Bandera calls itself the " Cowboy Capital of the World". History A visitor to Bandera can see a sign on Main Street in front of the fire department that states that Bandera was founded by Polish Roman Catholic immigrants from Upper Silesia. St. Stanislaus Catholic Church was built by those immigrants, and the church is one of the oldest in Texas. Many of the residents are descended from those original Polish immigrants. Several stories exist regarding the origin of the name "Bandera". Von Ormy ( ) is a city in southwest Bexar County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 1,174. It is part of the San Antonio metropolitan statistical area. It has been known as Von Ormy since the late 1880s. Prior to 1880, the community was known as "Mann's Crossing", "Garza's Crossing", "Medina Crossing", and "Paso de las Garzas". Somerset is a city located in Bexar County, Texas, Bexar County, Texas, United States. It is located less than 20 miles south of Downtown San Antonio and is part of the metropolitan area. Lytle, Texas
Lytle is a city in Atascosa, Bexar, and Medina counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 2,492 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Lytle grew out of 321 acres located around the head of Atascosa Creek which were patented to Henry Volkner in 1856. Volkner was the assignee of Mahan Matter, and the patent was signed by Elisha M. Pease, Governor of Texas. In 1870, Volkner sold the 321 acres for $175 to Fitch S. Adams. Lytle's first school was built on Adams' property with a verbal agreement that as long as the school building was there, the land on which it stood would belong to the school. In 1881, officials from the International–Great Northern Railroad made an agreement with B. G. Andrews in which he was to give land for a new station ("Andrews Station"). Mico is an unincorporated community in northeastern Medina County, Texas, United States. It is approximately west of Downtown San Antonio off Farm to Market Road 1283.
