Medak is a town in Medak district of the Indian state of Telangana. It is a municipality and the headquarters of Medak mandal in Medak revenue division. And There is a river named srujan which is big in length. Etymology and History Medak was originally named ''Methukudurgam'' or ''Methuku Seema'' (translated to grain in Telugu) due to the growth of rice here. Geography Medak is located at . It has an average elevation of 442 meters (1450 feet). Climate Demographics census of India, the town had a population of 44,255 with 9011 households. Medak Cathedral
Medak Cathedral at Medak in Telangana, India, is one of the largest churches in India and has been the cathedral church of the Diocese of Medak of the Church of South India since 1947. Originally built by Charles Walker Posnett British Wesleyan Methodists, it was consecrated on 25 December 1924. History Medak Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop in Medak for the Church of South India (comprising Wesleyan Methodist, Congregational and Anglican missionary societies - SPG, WMMS, LMS, CMS, and the Church of England). Medak mandal is one of the 46 mandals in Medak district of the Indian state of Telangana. It is under the administration of Medak revenue division and the headquarters are located at Medak. Ordnance Factory Medak (OFMK) (Hindi: आयुध निर्माणी मेदक), previously called Ordnance Factory Project Medak (OFPM) while in its development stage, is a factory owned by Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited , a company that manufactures armoured vehicles and was one of the 41 Indian Ordnance Factories under the erstwhile Ordnance Factories Board of the Ministry of Defence controlled by Government of India. Medak Fort
Medak Fort is situated in Medak district in the Indian state of Telangana, about 100 kilometres from the state capital, Hyderabad. Medak fort was constructed by the Kakatiya Kings. The fort lies to the north of the city and can be reached by road. It is a citadel built on a hillock that provided as a vantage point for the Kakatiya rulers in medieval India. The fort was built sometime around the 12th century and during the reign of the Kakatiya ruler, Rudra Deva and was called Methuku durgam, meaning cooked rice in Telugu. Pocharam Wildlife Sanctuary
Pocharam Wildlife Sanctuary is a forest and wildlife sanctuary located from Medak and from Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Spanning over , in the districts of Nizamabad and Medak, it was a former hunting ground of the Nizam that was declared a wildlife sanctuary in the early 20th century.
