Md. Atowar Rahman
Md Atoar Rahman is a Justice of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. Early life Rahman was born on 4 May 1961. He did his undergraduate and graduate studies in law at the University of Dhaka. Career Rahman joined the judicial branch of the Bangladesh Civil Service on 22 February 1984. On 10 October 2006, Rahman was promoted to District and Sessions Judge. Rahman became the Senior District and Sessions Judge on 10 October 2011. In April 2017, Rahman, Judge of the Drug Court, granted bail to Mizanur Rahman, managing director of Rid Pharmaceuticals Limited, and his wife Sheuli Rahman in a case over the death of 28 children who died after consuming contaminated paracetamol manufactured by their pharmaceutical company in 2009. Rahman was appointed an Additional Judge of the High Court Division on 31 May 2018. On 30 May 2020, Rahman was made a permanent judge of the High Court Division. The High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh ( bn, হাইকোর্ট ডিভিশন) popularly known as the 'High Court' is one of the two divisions of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the other division being the Appellate Division. It consists of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh and the Judges of the High Court Division. The High Court Division exercises both original jurisdiction and appellate jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters. The Digital Security Act, 2018 is a digital security law in Bangladesh. This act was passed with the aim of preventing the spread of racism; sectarianism; extremism; terrorist propaganda; and hatred against religious or ethnic minorities through social media, print media or any other electronic media. Any content over the internet or any other media that was deemed pornographic or otherwise inappropriate by the government could be punished by fines or prison terms of various lengths. Rapid Action Battalion or RAB, is an anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police. This elite force consists of members of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Civil Service and Bangladesh Ansar.
