Herman McInnes
Herman Lewis McInnes (also Hermon McInnes or Herman McInnis) (October 13, 1862 – July 16, 1923) was a politician in Alberta, Canada and a municipal councillor in Edmonton. Biography Herman McInnes was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and educated in Fredericton. He worked as a druggist for five years in that city and in Winnipeg after graduating high school. He studied medicine at the Manitoba Medical College — now part of the University of Manitoba - from which he graduated in 1886. He served as an assistant surgeon during the North-West Rebellion. He came to Edmonton in 1886 and took up the practice of medicine before going to Europe for further study from 1889 until 1892. He resumed his practice upon his return and also founded McInnes Lumber Company in 1902. He was elected to Edmonton City Council for a one-year term as an alderman in the 1907 municipal election, in which he finished fifth out of twelve candidates. John McInnes (23 April 1878 – 30 September 1950) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the South Australian House of Assembly from 1918 to 1950, representing the electorates of West Torrens (1918–1938) and Hindmarsh (1938–1950). He was a member of the Labor Party throughout his career, apart from 1931 to 1934, when he represented the splinter Parliamentary Labor Party. He served as Speaker of the South Australian House of Assembly from 1924 to 1926. McInnes was born in Scotland and moved to South Australia as a child. He was the inaugural secretary of the South Australian Government General Workers' Association from 1905 to 1911. James McInnes (19 May 1901 – 14 April 1974) was a Scottish politician. Born in Newry, McInnes was educated at Glasgow Secondary School, and then became a railway clerk. He joined the Labour Party, serving on Glasgow Town Council from 1933 until 1950, and was leader of the Labour group on the council for his final year. In 1938, he chaired the Scottish Council of the Labour Party. McInnes stood unsuccessfully in Glasgow Pollok at the 1935 United Kingdom general election, and then in Glasgow Central at the 1945 United Kingdom general election.
