McGregor Trophy
The McGregor Trophy is the English Boys Under 16 Open Amateur Stroke-Play Championship. It was founded in 1982. History The event was founded as a boys' golf tournament in 1982 at the Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club by Roy Case, later to become president of the English Golf Union. The trophy was donated by Matt and Kathy McGregor, former captains of the club. The competition was adopted in 1993 by the English Golf Union as the English Boys Under 16 Open Amateur Stroke-Play Championship. It is now played at various venues around England, but returns to Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club at five year intervals reflecting the inauguration of the trophy at this course. Format The championship is open to golfers of all nationalities in possession of a playing handicap not exceeding 4.4. Players must be under 16 years of age on 1 January of the year in which the event takes place. Trevose Golf & Country Club
Trevose Golf & Country Club is a 27-hole golf club in Cornwall, England which has hosted many of the leading amateur golf tournaments in Britain, including the Brabazon Trophy and professional events on the European Senior Tour. History The land on which the course was built was acquired by Dr. Pension Williams in the early 1920s and early excavations of the site identified a holy well which allegedly dates from the third century which is located adjacent to the remains of St Constantine's Chapel. The championship course was designed by Harry Colt and opened for play in 1925. The club was subsequently acquired by John C. Gammon together with another member in 1941 and subsequently acquired the whole of the club in 1955. The Gammon family have continued to oversee the management of the club since this date. James Heath (golfer)
James Joseph Heath (born 17 March 1983) is an English professional golfer. Heath was born in London. He started playing golf with his father at the age of ten. Having played in the Faldo Junior Series, he went on to a successful amateur career, highlighted by winning the English Amateur and Lytham Trophy, where he broke the previous scoring record by 10 strokes, in 2004. He turned professional at the end of that year. Having played in three tournaments on the European tour as an amateur in 2004, Heath joined the second tier Challenge Tour in 2005, and was moderately successful in his first season, finishing 23rd on the end of season rankings. Paul James Waring (born 2 February 1985) is an English professional golfer. Waring was born in Birkenhead. He had a successful amateur career which included winning the English Amateur in 2005. He turned professional in 2007 and almost enjoyed immediate success on the second tier Challenge Tour when he lost out in a playoff to Felipe Aguilar at the Postbank Challenge in Germany. Matthew David Baldwin (born 26 February 1986) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Baldwin was captain of the England Boys side before turning professional in 2008. Oliver James Fisher (born 13 September 1988) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and on the LIV Golf Invitational Series.
