Tudor Crisps was a brand of potato crisps produced in Sandyford, Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Originally an independent firm, established in Newcastle in 1947, Tudor later moved to Peterlee to a new factory, which still exists but was closed in 2017. Tudor was acquired by Smiths Crisps in 1961, and Smiths’ new Salt & Vinegar flavour would first be tested by Tudor in their home market of north-east England before it was launched nationally by Smiths in 1967. The 1970s television advertisements featured a paper boy, bribed with a ‘canny bag of crisps’ to brave delivering his papers to a tall tower block (in reality Derwent Tower, Dunston, Tyne and Wear). In the 1980s, the ads gave cult status to their star, Allen Mechen, who played the adult paperboy who returned as an apparently successful and wealthy man, driving a Rolls-Royce car and eating a bag of Tudor Crisps. Seabrook Crisps (often shortened to Seabrook's) is a UK brand of crisps produced in Bradford, England, by Seabrook Crisps Ltd. History The company was founded in 1945 by Charles Brook, and the name supposedly arose because of an error in a photo-processing shop; instead of writing "C. Brook" on a film, a clerk wrote "Seabrook". Original production was in Allerton, but in 1979-80 a larger factory opened in the Princeville area of Bradford; production continued at the Allerton factory until 2004. Seabrook's crisps are distributed widely in the north of England, and increasingly in the south, and are also sold through mail order. Most of the potatoes used by the company are grown within 50 miles of the Bradford headquarters, Seabrook House. The 2012 McCoy's Premier League Darts was a darts tournament organised by the Professional Darts Corporation; the eighth edition of the tournament. The event began at the Manchester Arena in Manchester on 9 February, and ended at The O2 Arena in London on 17 May. The format was a double round robin tournament with the top 4 finishers moving on to the play-offs. Each league match was played best of 14 legs. If a player won his eighth leg before the 14th leg, no further legs were played after this point. Two points were awarded for a win and one point awarded for a draw. Phil Taylor won his sixth and final Premier League title by defeating Simon Whitlock 10–7 in the final. The two men who contested the final were also the players to throw nine-dart finishes during the tournament. The event began at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on 7 February, and ended at The O2 Arena, London on 16 May. The tournament was shown live on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland. Phil Taylor was the defending champion and he reached the final again this year, but lost 10–8 against Michael van Gerwen who won his first Premier League title on his debut appearance in the competition. Premier League Darts
Premier League Darts is a darts tournament which launched on 20 January 2005 on Sky Sports. Now played weekly from February to May, the event originally started as a fortnightly fixture in small venues around the United Kingdom. The tournament originally featured seven players, and now sees eight players from the PDC circuit competing in a knockout style format, with nights also hosted in Europe at different venues. The top four players in the PDC Order of Merit are joined by four wildcard selections to make up the eight-man field. Alongside the World Championship and the World Matchplay, it is considered part of the sport's Triple Crown. The current sponsor is Cazoo. While active, Phil Taylor dominated the event, winning six of the thirteen tournaments he appeared in.
