King George Street (Jerusalem)
King George Street ( he, רחוב המלך ג׳ורג׳, ''Rehov ha-Melekh Jorj'', ar, شارع الملك جورج ''Shara'a al-Malik Jurj'') is a street in central Jerusalem which joins the famous Ben Yehuda Street and Jaffa Road to form the Downtown Triangle central business district. The street was named in honour of King George V on December 9, 1924. History King George Street was dedicated in honour of the seventh anniversary of the British conquest of Jerusalem under General Allenby. The inauguration took place in 1924, in the presence of Sir Herbert Samuel, the High Commissioner for Palestine, Sir Ronald Storrs, the military governor of Jerusalem, and Raghib al-Nashashibi, the Arab mayor of Jerusalem. Zvi Malnovitzer
Zvi Malnovitzer (Hebrew: צבי מלנוביצר, born 1945) is an expressionist painter born to a Haredi Judaism, Haredi, or ultra-Orthodox, religious family in Bnei Brak, Bnei Brak, Israel. His upbringing in a society isolated from the modern world, where he was dedicated to intensive and uninterrupted Talmudic study from a young age, makes his decision to become an artist unusual, bold, and one of accomplishment. During his training in Reichenau, Austria, where he studied under the auspices of artist Wolfgang Manner and under the direction of Ernst Fuchs (artist), Ernst Fuchs (renowned exponent of Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, Fantastic Realism, a 20th-century group of artists in Vienna combining techniques of the Old Masters with religious and esoteric symbolism), Malnvotizer developed a unique style portraying themes that straddle the religious and secular worlds.
