Maya HD
Astro Maya HD was a channel on Malaysia's satellite television Astro and began broadcasting on 24 June 2013, the second Malay high-definition channel launched by Astro after Astro Mustika HD. When it was launched, it broadcast content from five of Astro's Malay channels such as Astro Ria, Astro Prima, Astro Oasis, Astro Ceria and Astro TVIQ. The content of Astro Ria were moved to its own HD channel when it began broadcasting on 29 May 2015. On the same day, NJOI customers are able to watch Maya HD in conjunction of 1 million customers celebration. Maya HD continued to broadcast content from Astro Prima and Astro Oasis until both channels has their HD counterparts launched at morning on 14 January 2019. As a result of this, Maya HD stopped broadcasting on Astro Malaysia at midnight and ceased transmission at 6 AM the next day. Astro (television)
All-Asian Satellite Television and Radio Operator, doing business as Astro, is a Malaysian satellite television and IPTV provider. It operates in Malaysia and Brunei and operates from the All Asia Broadcast Centre (AABC) in Kuala Lumpur and MEASAT in Cyberjaya. In 2016, the company was recorded as achieving 71% household penetration in Malaysia. It was granted an exclusive license as the sole pay-television provider by the Malaysian federal government until 2017. Astro is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad and is operated by MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems Sdn. Bhd. 1080i
1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. A related display resolution is 1080p, which also has 1080 lines of resolution; the "p" refers to progressive scan, which indicates that the lines of resolution for each frame are "drawn" on the screen in sequence. Astro Ria
Astro Ria is a 24-hour Southeast Asia Bahasa Malaysia television channel exclusive to the Astro satellite television provider. It was one of the first 22 channels to be launched on Astro in 1996. Astro Ria offers a variety of shows including news, local and Indonesian dramas, movies, reality shows, sports, talk shows, cartoons, concerts, sitcoms, documentaries, cooking shows, quizzes and more. Channel changes were made from October 1, 2007, after Astro introduced a 3-digit channel. Astro Ceria is a 24-hour Malay-language television channel that is broadcast on the Astro satellite television service. This channel is dedicated to toddlers and children. It was launched on 31 August 2006, making it Malaysia's first-ever television channel dedicated to kids. Astro Citra is a 24-hour Malay language version of HBO Asia, showing the local and Asian movies. The channel began broadcasting on 1 June 2009, replacing Astro Kirana (Channel 122) which ceased its broadcasting on 18 May 2009 due to low viewership. Astro Warna
Astro Warna is a 24-hour Malaysian television network in Malaysia. Launch On 1 June 2009, this channel airs local and international comedy programs. It is broadcast on the Astro satellite television platform as part of the Mustika Pack via Channel 132. Before launching Astro Warna, all local comedy programs were shown on either Astro Ria or Astro Prima. After launching Astro Warna, almost all local comedy programs shown on their existing Malay channels moved to Astro Warna, although some programs such as Raja Lawak Astro continued to be shown on Astro Prima for its fourth and fifth season, before moving to Astro Warna in its sixth season.
