Maxwell Trevor
Maxwell Trevor is an Indian cyclist. Considered one of India's best cyclists, Trevor is a national record holder, winner of more than 250 medals and an eleven-time national track champion. Background Born in an Anglo-Indian family, Maxwell Trevor is one of six siblings. He took to cycling as a sport representing India on several occasions. Besides being inspired by Preston Tully, an international cyclist, Trevor's interest in the sport was sparked by his elder brother, Glen, who was also an international cyclist during the 1970s. With 8–10 hours of training everyday, Trevor was coached by Mumtaz Ahmed, a state-level coach, who eventually left for the United States. He has a wife and three children. One of his children, whom he trained, won the junior national title and won the third place in the south zone championships. Trevor's foray into competitive cycling began in 1980. Anglo-Indian people fall into two different groups: those with mixed Indian and British ancestry, and people of British descent born or residing in India. The Friendship Games, or Friendship-84 (russian: Дружба-84, ''Druzhba-84''), was an international multi-sport event held between 2 July and 16 September 1984 in the Soviet Union and eight other socialist states which boycotted the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Although Friendship Games officials denied that the Games were to be a counter-Olympic event to avoid conflicts with the International Olympic Committee, the competition was often dubbed the Eastern Bloc's "alternative Olympics". Some fifty states took part in the competition. While the boycotting countries were represented by their strongest athletes, other states sent their reserve teams, consisting of athletes who failed to qualify for Los Angeles. UCI World Championships
The UCI world championships are annual competitions promoted by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to determine world champion cyclists. They are held in several different styles of racing, in a different country each year. Championship winners wear a white jersey with coloured bands around the chest for the following year. The similarity to the colours of a rainbow gives them the colloquial name of "Rainbow jersey, the rainbow jersey." The first three individuals or teams in each championship win gold, silver and bronze medals. Former world champions are allowed to wear a trim to their collar and sleeves in the same pattern as the rainbow jersey.
