Maxime Rooney
Maxime Rooney (born April 16, 1998) is a retired American competitive swimmer who won the gold medal in the 200 meter freestyle at the 2015 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Singapore. Together with his teammates, he broke the junior world record in the freestyle relay. At the senior 2015 National Championships (long course) in San Antonio, Rooney won the title in the 200 meter freestyle. His winning time of 1:47.10 was the former junior world record. FISU World University Games Gold Medalists For The United States
The Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU, en, International University Sports Federation) is responsible for the organization and governance of worldwide sports competitions for student-athletes between the ages of 17 and 25. It was founded in 1949 as the world governing body of national university sports organizations and currently has 174 member associations (National University Sport Federations) from five continents. Between 1949 and 2011, it was based in Brussels (Belgium); it was relocated to Lausanne (Switzerland) since 2011. The FISU stages its events every two years. Universiade Medalists In Swimming
The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade will be officially branded as the FISU World University Games. The most recent games were held in 2019: the Winter Universiade was held in Krasnoyarsk, Russia while the Summer Universiade was held in Naples, Italy. An Olympic-size swimming pool conforms to regulated dimensions that are large enough for international competition. This type of swimming pool is used in the Olympic Games, where the race course is in length, typically referred to as "long course", distinguishing it from "short course" which applies to competitions in pools that are in length. If touch panels are used in competition, then the distance between touch panels should be either 25 or 50 metres to qualify for FINA recognition. This means that Olympic pools are generally oversized, to accommodate touch panels used in competition. United States Swimming National Championships
The United States Swimming National Championships (a.k.a. "Nationals") are held annually, in summer. The event is organized by USA Swimming, and is held in a long course (50m) pool. In the past, and as recently as 2007, there were 2 meets annually: and Spring and Summer Nationals. The Spring meet began as a 25-yard (short course) meet, while the Summer meet was long course. Prior to USA Swimming's creation in the late 1970s, the meet was run by the AAU. Phillips 66 began sponsoring the meet in 1973, which continues through today although the branding of the sponsorship changed to ConocoPhillips in the early 2000s. This is one of the longest sponsorships in U.S. sports. ''Swimming World'' is a US-based monthly swimming magazine that was first published in a magazine format as ''Junior Swimmer'' in January 1960. It concurrently runs online websites ''Swimming World Magazine'' and ''Swimming World News'', (known as ''SwimInfo'' prior to 2006).
