Zhang Jin (Three Kingdoms)
The military history of the Three Kingdoms period encompasses roughly a century's worth of prolonged warfare and disorder in Chinese history. After the assassination of General-in-chief He Jin in September 189, the administrative structures of the Han government became increasingly irrelevant. By the time of death of Cao Cao, the most successful warlord of North China, in 220, the Han empire was divided between the three rival states of Cao Wei, Shu Han and Eastern Wu. Due to the ensuing turmoil, the competing powers of the Three Kingdoms era found no shortage of willing recruits for their armies, although press-ganging as well as forcible enlistment of prisoners from defeated armies still occurred. Following four centuries of rule under the Han dynasty, the Three Kingdoms brought about a new era of conflict in China that shifted institutions in favor of a more permanent and selective system of military recruitment. Zhang Jin (physical Chemist)
Zhang Jin (; born December 1969) is a Chinese physical chemist and nanotechnologist. He serves as Professor and Deputy Dean at the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Peking University, and as Deputy Director of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology. Biography Zhang was born in Wangjiayuan Township of Tongxin County, Ningxia in December 1969. He has an elder brother. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Lanzhou University in 1992 and 1995, respectively. He completed his doctoral work in 1998 there under the supervision of Liu Zhongfan. He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Leeds from 1998 to 2000. In 2000 he joined the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Peking University, becoming professor in 2006 and deputy dean in 2015. Jin Zhang (; born February 29, 1972) is a Chinese-American biochemist. She is a professor of pharmacology, chemistry and biochemistry, and biomedical engineering at the University of California, San Diego. Early life and education Zhang was born in Beijing, China. She received her Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Tsinghua University in Beijing in 1995. She completed her PhD with David G. Lynn at the University of Chicago in 2000, and conducted postdoctoral research with Roger Y. Tsien and Susan S. Taylor at the University of California, San Diego. Academic career Following her postdoc at UCSD, Zhang joined the faculty in the department of pharmacology and molecular sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2003.
