Career Born in 1996, Heß won a silver medal at the 2014 World Junior Championships. He won another silver medal at the 2016 World Indoor Championships. He won gold at the 2016 European Championships. In 2017, he competed in the European Indoor Championships and the European U23 Championships, winning bronze in both. At the former, he set a personal best and German record of 17.52 m. The World Athletics U20 Championships is a biennial world championships for the sport of athletics organised by the World Athletics, contested by athletes in the under-20 athletics age category (19 years old or younger on 31 December in the year of the competition. The competition was launched as the IAAF World Junior Championships in Athletics in 1986 and renamed to IAAF World U20 Championships in November 2015. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019.
