Max Ferner
Max Ferner was a German playwright, born Maximilian Sommer on 18 April 1881. He died in Munich at the age of 59 on 9 October 1940. Ferner teamed up with his friend Max Neal to write librettos for two operettas for the Austrian composer Karl Michael Ziehrer which were performed in September 1913 and again in February 1916. Ferner also wrote and co-wrote with Neal a series of plays, many of which were later converted to movies. Operetta is a form of theatre and a genre of light opera. It includes spoken dialogue, songs, and dances. It is lighter than opera in terms of its music, orchestral size, length of the work, and at face value, subject matter.
