Max Ainmiller
Maximilian Emanuel Ainmiller (14 February 1807 – 9 December 1870) was a German artist and glass painter. Under the tutorage of Friedrich von Gärtner, director of the royal Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory, Ainmiller studied glass painting, both as a mechanical process and as an art, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 1828 he was appointed director of the newly founded royal painted-glass manufactory at Munich. The method which he gradually perfected there was a development of the enamel process adopted in the Renaissance, and consisted in actually painting the design upon the glass, which was subjected, as each colour was laid on, to carefully adjusted heating. The earliest specimens of Ainmiller's work are to be found in the cathedral of Regensburg. With a few exceptions, all the windows in Glasgow cathedral are from his hand. Alter Südfriedhof
The Alter Südfriedhof (''Old South Cemetery'') also known as "Alter Südlicher Friedhof" is a cemetery in Munich, Germany. It was founded by Duke Albrecht V as a plague cemetery in 1563 about half a kilometer south of the Sendlinger Gate between Thalkirchner and Pestalozzistraße. History The cemetery was established in 1563, during the reign of Albert V, Duke of Bavaria, for victims of the plague and located outside the city gates. It was also the burial ground of the dead from the Sendling uprising of 1705, in which over 1100 were killed after they had surrendered to the troops of Joseph I, Holy Roman Emperor. From 1788 to 1867 it was the single collective burial ground for the dead of the city. Schwabing
Schwabing is a borough in the northern part of Munich, the capital of the German state of Bavaria. It is part of the city borough 4 (Schwabing-West) and the city borough 12 (Schwabing-Freimann). The population of Schwabing is estimated about 100.000, making it one of the largest districts of Munich. The main boulevard is Leopoldstraße. Overview Schwabing was a village, with a church documented in the 14th century. Schwabing used to be famous as Munich's bohemian quarter, but has lost much of this reputation due to strong gentrification in the last decades. A popular location is the ''Englischer Garten'', or English Garden, one of the world's largest public parks. Heinrich Neal
Heinrich Neal (September 11, 1870 – 1940) was a German Kapellmeister at Heidelberg,"History of Lowell and its people, Volume 2" By Frederick William Coburn, p.532 born to the artist David Dalhoff Neal and Marie Ainmiller, and brother to dramatist Maximilian Dalhoff Neal. His grandfather was the great glass painter Max Emanuel Ainmiller. Heinrich graduated from the Munich Conservatory in 1888, then studied orchestral instrumentation at Dresden from 1889 to 1890, and in Paris from 1891 to 1893. He, just as his father did, had duel citizenship in Germany as well as the U.S. He married Alice Lessel on March 28, 1896, in Dresden, Germany. Heinrich was the musical composer, who directed the Heidelberg Conservatory of Music, with his home address of Werder Strasse 7, Heidelberg, Germany.
