Mawatagama Electoral District
Mawatagama electoral district was an electoral district of Sri Lanka between March 1960 Ceylonese parliamentary election, March 1960 and 1989 Sri Lankan parliamentary election, February 1989. The district was named after the town of Mawatagama in Kurunegala District, North Western Province, Sri Lanka, North Western Province. The Constitution of Sri Lanka, 1978 Constitution of Sri Lanka introduced the proportional representation electoral system for Elections in Sri Lanka, electing Member of Parliament, members of Parliament of Sri Lanka, Parliament. The existing 160 mainly Plurality voting system, single-member electoral districts were replaced with 22 multi-member electoral districts.
