Mausoleum Of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
Bangabandhu's Mausoleum is the mausoleum of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder and the first president of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It is located in Tungipara of Gopalganj district, the birthplace of Mujib, and was designed by architects Ehsan Khan, Ishtiaque Jahir and Iqbal Habib. After Sheikh Mujibur Rahman died in 1975, he was buried in Tungipara. For many years the military junta restricted access to the grave site. After the Awami League elected in June 1996 Bangladeshi general election, the department of archaeology officially started the construction of the complex, which was opened in 2000. Background After the liberation of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became the 2nd prime minister of the country after being released from Mianwali Jail in Pakistan and returning to his motherland. ''Shaheed'' ( , , ; pa, ਸ਼ਹੀਦ) denotes a martyr in Islam. Imam
Imam (; ar, إمام '; plural: ') is an Islamic leadership position. For Sunni Muslims, Imam is most commonly used as the title of a worship leader of a mosque. In this context, imams may lead Islamic worship services, lead prayers, serve as community leaders, and provide religious guidance. Thus for Sunnis, anyone can study the basic Islamic sciences and become an Imam. For most Shia Muslims, the Imams are absolute infallible leaders of the Islamic community after the Prophet. Sheikh Russel (October 18, 1964 – August 15, 1975) was the youngest child of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father and first President of Bangladesh. Russel and most of his direct family were killed in their home during the 1975 military coup. Early life Russel was born on October 18, 1964, at Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sheikh Jamal
Sheikh Jamal (28 April 1954 – 15 August 1975) was the second son of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first president of Bangladesh. Early life Jamal was born at Tungipara, Gopalganj on 28 April 1954. His father was Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his mother was Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib. He was their second son after Sheikh Kamal. He was a freedom fighter. His sister, Sheikh Hasina, is the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Sheikh Jamal, after a period of studies at Bangladesh Air Force Shaheen College, finished his matriculation from Dhaka Residential Model College in Dhaka. He passed his HSC from Dhaka College.
