Maun, Botswana
Maun is the fifth-largest town in Botswana. As of 2011, it had a population of 55,784. Maun is the "tourism capital" of Botswana and the administrative centre of Ngamiland district. Francistown and Maun are linked by the A3 highway. It is also the headquarters of numerous safari and air-charter operations who run trips into the Okavango Delta. Although officially still a village, Maun has developed rapidly from a rural frontier town and has spread along the Thamalakane River. It now has shopping centres, hotels and lodges as well as car hire, although it retains a rural atmosphere and local tribesmen continue to bring their cattle to Maun to sell. The community is distributed along the wide banks of the Thamalakane River where red lechwe can still be seen grazing next to local donkeys, goats and cattle. River Maun
The River Maun is a river in Nottinghamshire, England. Its source lies in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, and from there it flows north east through Mansfield (which takes its name from the river), Edwinstowe and Ollerton, these being the heart of the Sherwood Forest area. It becomes known as Whitewater near the village of Walesby and connects to the River Meden temporarily where the Robin Hood Way crosses them. They diverge, and near Markham Moor it merges again with the River Meden this time becoming the River Idle. Its main tributaries are Rainworth Water, Vicar Water and Cauldwell Water. The river has been an important source of power, from at least 1086, when there was a watermill in Mansfield. A big increase in the number of mills began in the 1780s, when the frame knitting industry was decimated by the advent of Richard Arkwright's water-powered spinning frame. Caroline C. Maun (born January 14, 1968) is a professor, author, poet, lyricist, and musician. She teaches creative writing in the English Department at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Other areas of research include modernism, American Literature, African-American literature, and Internet Writing. Early life and education Maun was born in Lansing, Michigan. She moved with her family to Englewood, Florida in 1971 where she attended Englewood Elementary School and later graduated from Lemon Bay High School in 1986. Maun graduated with honors from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida as an English major in 1990. In 1992, she earned a MA in English from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her M.A. thesis research documented Emily Dickinson and her 1890s editors, especially Mabel Loomis Todd. Danny Maun (born 5 January 1981, in Dewsbury, England) is an English former rugby league footballer. Maun plays for Hunslet Hawks in the Co-operative Championship 1. He previously played at Wigan, Featherstone Rovers and Dewsbury Rams.and Most notably Batley Bulldogs where he remains a fan favourite and playing 254 games. Danny Maun's usual position is . Haji Marsal Bin Maun (8 November 1913 – 28 March 2000) was the second Menteri Besar (Chief Minister of Brunei), who served from 1961 to 1962. It was during his tenure as Menteri Besar that the Brunei Revolt broke out. Marsal Maun was one of the person responsible for the establishment of the Federation of Brunei Malay Teachers (PGGMB) and Brunei Scout Movement, which both still run till today.
