Matthew Milia
Matthew Milia (born November 6, 1985) is an American songwriter, musician, poet, and visual artist. He is best known as the leader of the band Frontier Ruckus. Early life Milia was raised in West Bloomfield, Michigan, where he attended Catholic school for 13 years. While in high school at Brother Rice High School (Michigan), Brother Rice he met David Jones, with whom he formed Frontier Ruckus. He then studied Creative Writing at Michigan State University, where he was mentored by poet Diane Wakoski. At Michigan State, Milia met bandmates Zachary Nichols, Anna Burch, and Ryan Etzcorn. In 2007, he and Burch studied at the Irish Writers' Union, Irish Writers Centre in Dublin. Frontier Ruckus As an undergraduate at Michigan State, Milia began writing the songs that would become ''The Orion Songbook'', Frontier Ruckus' 2008 debut. Lollapalooza
Lollapalooza (Lolla) is an annual American four-day music festival held in Grant Park in Chicago. It originally started as a touring event in 1991 but several years later made Chicago the permanent location for the annual music festival. Music genres include but are not limited to alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip hop, and electronic dance music. Lollapalooza has also featured visual arts, nonprofit organizations, and political organizations. The festival, held in Grant Park, hosts an estimated 400,000 people each July and sells out annually. Uncle Tupelo
Uncle Tupelo was an alternative country music group from Belleville, Illinois, active between 1987 and 1994. Jay Farrar, Jeff Tweedy, and Mike Heidorn formed the band after the lead singer of their previous band, The Primitives, left to attend college. The trio recorded three albums for Rockville Records, before signing with Sire Records and expanding to a five-piece. Shortly after the release of the band's major label debut album '' Anodyne'', Farrar announced his decision to leave the band due to a soured relationship with his co-songwriter Tweedy. Uncle Tupelo split on May 1, 1994, after completing a farewell tour. Following the breakup, Farrar formed Son Volt with Heidorn, while the remaining members continued as Wilco. Wilco
Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar's departure. Wilco's lineup changed frequently during its first decade, with only singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt remaining from the original incarnation. Since early 2004, the lineup has been unchanged, consisting of Tweedy, Stirratt, guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, keyboard player Mikael Jorgensen, and drummer Glenn Kotche. Ken Coomer
Ken Coomer is an American musician and producer best known for his drumming in Uncle Tupelo and later Wilco. He was the drummer and co-founder of the Nashville-based band, Clockhammer, in the late 1980s/early 1990s. Career Coomer produced the debut solo album of Vaquero's singer Chetes, which achieved platinum record sales in the Mexican music market. In 2017, he produced the debut album of the Colombian indie rock band AppleTree called ''Horas Perdidas'', which was named the #1 Colombian album of 2018. As a member of Wilco, Coomer has performed on ''A.M.'', ''Being There'', ''Summerteeth'', and ''Yankee Hotel Foxtrot''. ''Enter the Kingdom'' is the fifth full-length studio album by Frontier Ruckus. Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with former Wilco and Uncle Tupelo drummer Ken Coomer, it marked the first Frontier Ruckus album produced outside of the band's home state of Michigan. ''Rolling Stone'' announced the album in late 2016 and premiered a music video for the debut single "27 Dollars." Reception With a more deliberate and polished production, ''Enter the Kingdom'' was met by a critical response ranging from laudatory to mixed.
