Matt Koleszar
Matt Koleszar (born September 21, 1981) is an American politician serving as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from the 20th district. He was elected in November 2018, defeating then-incumbent Jeff Noble (R). In 2020, Rep. Koleszar retained his seat against John Lacny in the November election. Education Koleszar earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education with a focus on social studies and English from Saginaw Valley State University in 2006. He earned a Master of Arts degree in English studies for teachers from Eastern Michigan University in 2011. Career Before his election to the position of state representative, Koleszar had worked in multiple positions in the education field. This included teacher and coach in the Airport Community School District and president of the Airport Education Association in Carleton, Michigan. Carleton, Michigan
Carleton is a village in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,326 at the 2020 census. The village is located within Ash Township. History The community was first platted in 1872 by Daniel Matthews, who also worked previously to select Lansing as the state capital. He became the first postmaster when the Carleton post office was established on February 24, 1874. The community was named after Will Carleton, who was a local poet. The community centered along a railway line first built by the Pere Marquette Railway and a junction with Canada Southern Railway, as well as the nearby Pennsylvania Railroad. The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census. Its composition, powers and duties are established in Article IV of the Michigan Constitution. Members are elected in even-numbered years and take office at 12 p.m. (EST) on January 1 following the November general election. Jeff Noble (born March 31, 1961) is an American pastor and former politician from Michigan. Early life Noble was born in Wilmington, Ohio. Education In 1984, Noble graduated from Francis Marion College. In 1996, Noble earned a M.Div. degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Career In 1999, Noble became a Lead Pastor of Main Street Baptist church in Canton, Michigan. In 2008, He partnered Main Street Baptist with the First Baptist Church of Plymouth and created Praise Baptist Church where he continued pastoring until August 2017.
