Matt Black (DJ)
Matt Black (real name Matthew Cohn) is a British DJ and one half of music duo Coldcut (along with Jonathan More), which founded the Ninja Tune record label. As a student at New College, Oxford, New College, University of Oxford, Oxford, he was a member of a band called ''The Jazz Insects'', whose first single was played by John Peel in his radio show. Black is one of the inventors of the VJamm software used in the Coldcut live shows and also co-developed a "granular video synthesizer" titled Granul8. He is also a founding member of the (now defunct) VJ (video performance artist), VJ group Hex (VJ group), Hex, and of the VJ group The VJamm Allstars with whom he continues to perform shows and has also worked alongside Crass Agenda as part of the Savage Utopia project. Matthew Black (born March 1, 1985) is a former professional Canadian football defensive back who played ten seasons with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He won two Grey Cup championships in 2012 and 2017. Early years Black was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to parents Marlane and Donovan, and has a younger brother Eric and a younger sister Destiny. As young boy, Black was in a French immersion program at Market Lane School Public School in downtown Toronto. While playing football at Northern Secondary School (Toronto), Northern Secondary School in Toronto, Ontario, Black was named the Mid-Town Football Most Valuable Player. In addition to football, Black played Rugby football, rugby, ice hockey, baseball, and Track and field athletics at high school. Matt Black (born 1970) is an American documentary photographer whose work has focused on issues of poverty, migration, and the environment. He is a full member of Magnum Photos. Black's first book, ''American Geography'', was published in 2021 and was exhibited at Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, Germany. Life and work Black was born in 1970 in Santa Maria, California. He grew up in the town of Visalia, in California's agricultural Central Valley. While attending high school, he worked as a photographer at the ''Tulare Advance-Register'', later the ''Visalia Times-Delta'', where he learned the black and white photojournalism style he has used throughout his career. He received a B.A. in Latin American History from San Francisco State University in 1995.
